The rice paper making profession of An Ngai, in An Ngai commune, Long Dien district (now Tam An commune, Long Dat district), has been a traditional craft for nearly 100 years, passed down from father to son. In 2013, the rice paper making profession of An Ngai commune was recognized as a traditional craft by the Provincial People's Committee.

With this decision, people will have more access to technology and machinery, improve product quality and expand the market.
Currently, An Ngai rice paper village has more than 130 participating households, with many different types of rice paper such as spring roll rice paper (large, small), chili rice paper, grilled rice paper, banana rice paper...
To further develop, the craft village is aiming to apply science and technology, mechanize production, build community tourism areas and register OCOP products.
There are more than 130 households producing rice paper using traditional methods.
The An Nhut rice vermicelli making profession belongs to An Nhut commune, Long Dien district (now Tam An commune, Long Dat district), appeared around the end of the 17th century - the beginning of the 18th century, from which the traditional craft village was formed. An Nhut rice vermicelli has its own culinary secrets, creating a distinctive brand for over 60 years.
In recent times, the craft of making An Nhut rice vermicelli and An Ngai rice paper in Tam An commune, Long Dat district has been continued to preserve the traditional craft. The production of rice vermicelli and rice paper by hand, applying modern technology also contributes to the sustainable development of craft villages.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the An Nhut rice vermicelli making craft and An Ngai rice paper making craft were included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which is a great driving force in preserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage.

Sectors and levels from the province to the grassroots need to actively manage, preserve and effectively promote the value of heritage, develop tours and tourist routes, promote traditional craft village products for tourists to visit and experience; help households have more income, preserve the craft of making rice paper and promote local socio-economic development.
