From July 1 to July 30, 2025, a general rural and agricultural census will take place to collect information nationwide.

On June 7, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 484/QD-TTg on organizing the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census.

Accordingly, the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census will be implemented to collect information nationwide for 30 days, starting from July 1, 2025 to July 30, 2025.

The rural and agricultural census is one of the three largest statistical censuses, organized every 10 years, to collect comprehensive information on agriculture, forestry, fisheries and the status of rural development nationwide.

This census is of great significance, especially in the context that Vietnam is promoting the transformation of agriculture and rural areas towards modernity and sustainability, requiring a strong enough data platform to serve policy making, analyze development trends, serve national target programs and meet new requirements in the context of international integration.

The 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census collects basic information on agriculture, forestry, fisheries and rural areas to assess the current situation, analyze changing trends, develop plans and strategies for sustainable development in rural areas and the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, thereby improving the living standards of rural people nationwide as well as in each locality.

The census also serves to research and evaluate the scale and structure of rural labor and agricultural, forestry and fishery labor; changes in rural infrastructure; the implementation of some contents of national programs and targets in the rural and agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors; and serves international comparisons of rural and agricultural, forestry and fishery sector indicators;

Building a database on rural areas and agriculture, forestry and fisheries to serve in-depth research, serve as a sampling frame for a number of annual periodic surveys on agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and meet other statistical requirements.

Therefore, the requirements of the 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census must ensure complete, accurate, timely, non-duplicated, and non-omitted collection of information specified in the Census Plan;

Keep confidential information collected from survey units according to the provisions of the Law on Statistics; at the same time, the management and use of funds for the 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census must ensure compliance with current regulations and be used economically and effectively.

The 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census covers all households engaged in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

Including self-producing households and hired households, production farms and rural areas where people reside even though they are not directly involved in agricultural, forestry and fishery production.

The General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) said that the 2025 Agricultural and Rural Census is not just a simple statistical task, it is also a comprehensive, scientific and accurate "review" of the current situation of rural and agricultural areas, thereby shaping sustainable, effective and practical development policies.

Therefore, the cooperation of each citizen will contribute significantly to creating a comprehensive picture of Vietnam's rural areas. Thereby, contributing to helping the Party, the State and relevant agencies formulate correct policies, serving the people and the country, for a sustainable development of Vietnam's rural and agricultural areas.

Research by UOB Bank shows that Vietnamese businesses have proactively adapted, promoted digitalization, sustainable development and need financial support and long-term strategies to cope with US tariff policies.

The results of the UOB Vietnam Business Outlook 2025 Study released today (June 25) show that the majority of Vietnamese businesses are proactively adapting and looking forward to receiving financial support to maintain sustainable growth momentum.

According to the survey results, after the US announced a 46% reciprocal tax rate for Vietnam on April 2, 2025, Vietnamese enterprises have proactively implemented measures to cope with possible impacts. Despite the volatile business environment, 60% of Vietnamese enterprises remain optimistic about the prospects for the coming year, of which 46% said they will accelerate plans to expand into foreign markets.

The US government’s 90-day tariff suspension has allowed trade negotiations to proceed, while giving businesses more time to respond proactively – from stabilizing supply chains to controlling rising input costs. About 52% of businesses expect material and production costs to increase significantly, while 30% are concerned about rising inflation.

According to UOB, Vietnamese businesses are taking a number of measures such as diversifying suppliers, increasing localization and reducing dependence on the US market. Nearly 70% of businesses expect intra-ASEAN trade to accelerate, reflecting the region’s increasingly important role in the context of global fluctuations. In addition, businesses are also focusing on investing in two strategic pillars: Digitalization and sustainable development, with 61% and 56% of Vietnamese businesses saying they will step up efforts in these two areas, respectively.

According to UOB, in addition to internal initiatives, businesses in Vietnam are also expecting more support from the Government and financial institutions to overcome the current challenging period. In the short term, financial support remains an urgent need, with 73% of businesses expecting financial support to mitigate the impact of tariffs and 65% wanting subsidies or tax exemptions specifically for the most affected sectors.

In the longer term, businesses are calling for strategic support such as signing bilateral trade agreements with key markets, as well as support in restructuring and shifting supply chains, with 62% of businesses surveyed stating this need.

The Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV) said that the world raw material market was deep in red after the trading session on June 24. Of which, Arabica coffee prices fell more than 4.6% to 6,864 USD/ton, Robusta coffee prices also turned around and lost more than 5.6% to 3,682 USD/ton. According to MXV, frost concerns have eased and abundant supply continues to put great pressure on coffee prices in the trading session on June 24.

Additionally, according to a report from Rabobank, global coffee demand is expected to decline by 0.5% in 2025, largely due to rising costs. The report also forecasts that the global coffee supply-demand balance will shift from a slight deficit of 900,000 bags in 2024-25 to a surplus of 1.4 million bags in 2025-26.

Data from Eurostat shows that the EU's coffee imports in the first four months of the year fell 9.7% year-on-year to 880,000 tonnes.

In the domestic market today (June 25), there was a decline in prices in all major growing regions. At 12:43 p.m., the price of green coffee beans in the Central Highlands ranged from VND94,500 to VND95,000 per kilogram, down VND1,000 from the same time yesterday.

Accordingly, Dak Lak and Dak Nong are currently trading at 95,000 VND/kg. In Lam Dong and Gia Lai, the common purchase price is 94,500 VND/kg - the lowest price among the localities.

This is the second consecutive session that domestic coffee prices have decreased, after a series of days of remaining stable at 96,000 VND/kg. The decline reflects the negative trend in the international market in recent days.

The Thai cabinet has approved an economic stimulus package estimated to be worth 115 billion baht (about more than 3.5 billion USD).

The money is expected to finance 481 projects with the aim of stimulating economic growth by 0.4% and creating temporary jobs for 7.4 million people nationwide.

The 481 projects include infrastructure for water resources and communications development, tourism promotion, export impact mitigation, productivity growth, digital development and community economy.

To ensure timely action, the Thai Finance Ministry stressed that all projects must have a signed contract or procurement agreement completed by September 30 this year, otherwise the funding will be canceled.

Thailand's economy grew 3.1% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, but experts predict a steady decline in the remaining quarters of the year as the impact of US tariffs begins to take effect.
