Building a rich and beautiful countryside by focusing on production development

In particular, localities prioritize investment resources in rural infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and irrigation to serve production development.

Investing in infrastructure for production

In recent years, the rural road system in the province has developed in both quantity and quality. This is a favorable condition to attract investors to rural areas, create jobs, and bring a new look and new vitality to rural areas.

Up to now, the rate of district roads asphalted or concreted has reached 100%; commune-managed roads have reached nearly 91.2%. The above results were achieved thanks to localities mobilizing investment capital well. Specifically, in the period of 2021-2025, the province's rural transport infrastructure investment capital was 5,481 billion VND. The movement to socialize rural transport with the motto "The State and the people work together" has achieved high results, attracting the participation of many people from all walks of life. In the past 5 years, people in the province have contributed nearly 19,500 working days to build, repair and upgrade 152.4km of rural roads; clear and clean more than 416km of roads... The total value contributed by farmers is nearly 82 billion VND.

According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, Dong Nai will continue to make breakthroughs in building modern new rural areas and happy new rural areas. The province will continue to focus on developing production, constantly improving people's income, always considering this as the foundation in building new rural areas.

Localities also focus on investing in irrigation works and projects to serve production. In the period 2020-2025, the whole province invested in building, repairing, upgrading, and expanding 47 irrigation works with an investment capital of more than 11.8 trillion VND. Irrigation works have been and are effectively serving irrigation, preventing salinity, and agricultural production.

Production development

Localities have mobilized credit capital and enterprises to invest in developing production, business, services, and developing rural industries; invested in agricultural production in concentrated production areas such as mango, grapefruit, durian, rambutan, orange, tangerine, pig, chicken, and super-intensive shrimp farming, etc., creating a new step in production development, improving economic efficiency, and increasing income of rural people.

In the period of 2021-2025, the capital of enterprises in localities has invested more than 170 trillion VND in developing agricultural production, accounting for 49.7% of the total capital mobilized by Dong Nai to build new rural areas. In particular, many good and effective production models are constantly being replicated.

The green-skin grapefruit growing model in Phu Hoa commune, Dinh Quan district brings high economic efficiency.

Chairwoman of Xuan Loc District People's Committee Nguyen Thi Cat Tien emphasized that, up to now, Xuan Loc District has completed the Pilot Project of Building Xuan Loc District to meet the model new rural standards towards sustainable agricultural commodity production development in the period of 2018-2025. In particular, in 2024, the average income per capita in rural areas will reach nearly 95.4 million VND, much higher than the general level of the province.

Director of Suoi Cat Cocoa Agricultural Service Cooperative (Xuan Loc district) Truong Van My shared that from 2024 to now, the price of fresh cocoa sold by members at the garden is from 15-17 thousand VND/kg, dry beans are from 220-240 thousand VND/kg. Thanks to that, cooperative members with well-maintained cocoa gardens will have an income of 500-600 million VND/hectare. The cocoa production chain chaired by the cooperative has attracted more than 100 households to participate with 100 hectares. Of which, members of the cooperative have received support from the budget of about 3.6 billion VND.

In addition, Nhon Trach district has continuously expanded the effective economic model of high-tech white-leg shrimp farming. Up to now, the whole district has developed an area of about 171 hectares applying high technology. The average profit of this model is from 600-800 million VND/hectare/year.

Dong Nai has also achieved high results in implementing the breakthrough task of developing organic agriculture, high-tech agriculture associated with processing industry and agricultural product consumption market. Up to now, the whole province has 299 chains. The proportion of agricultural, forestry and fishery products produced in the form of cooperation and association reached nearly 51.7%.

As a result, the average growth in the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the 2021-2025 period is estimated at 3.8% per year, a higher growth rate than the national average and the highest compared to the provinces in the Southeast region. The value of harvested products per hectare of crop and aquaculture in the province is about 160 million VND/hectare/year, 1.3 times higher than in 2020.
