Building family values ​​- Nurturing a loving home

Family is a special social institution, of great importance and considered the nucleus of the country. Through many periods in history, Vietnamese culture has built a system of sustainable family values.

In recent times, the implementation of the Family Code of Conduct, the National Program on Domestic Violence Prevention in the New Situation, and family work documents have contributed to shaping the system of ethical values and traditional culture in each family.

The importance of family values

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: "President Ho Chi Minh once affirmed that caring about families is right because many families together make up a society, a good society makes a better family, a good family makes a good society. The nucleus of society is the family". That teaching is both a profound observation and a guideline for all social development policies, emphasizing the key role of the family in the work of building and defending the Fatherland.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Family Management (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that in recent times, the province has done a good job of implementing and disseminating the content of documents, especially the content of the set of criteria for family behavior, the system of Vietnamese family values; knowledge and skills to build a cultured and happy family.

In addition, it criticizes the pragmatic lifestyle, social evils, domestic violence, backward customs and practices in marriage and family. It promotes the role of the family in nurturing, orienting values, educating morality and lifestyle in the family, especially for the younger generation, aiming at the goal of building a prosperous, progressive, happy and civilized family.

Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organizes specialized propaganda on family work, moral education, family lifestyle, family conduct criteria, basic content of the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence... for all classes of people.

Disseminate the set of criteria for family conduct and the content of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention to students.

Cadres and party members always promote the spirit of being exemplary in taking care of building happy families. Through the Campaign “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas”, people actively participate in the emulation movement to build cultural families… contributing to building happy families and sustainable development.

Over the past 3 years, the movement to build cultural families has regularly received the attention of leadership and synchronous direction from Party committees and authorities at all levels from the province to the foundations. All levels have included cultural family targets in action programs and socio -economic development plans.

Results: 8/8 targets on domestic violence prevention and control were met, 100% of victims of violence were supported, and the number of violence cases decreased sharply (from 22 cases in 2022 to 10 cases in 2024). At the same time, more than 300 amateur music clubs and happy families were developed, with over 1,000 members participating, contributing to preserving the cultural identity of the South.

Building a family in the new era

Mr. Phan Van Thuong (Trung Hiep commune) said that by implementing the family criteria and building a cultural family, his family has a healthy, simple lifestyle, is friendly with everyone, and is trusted and loved by everyone, so it always creates solidarity with neighbors and the place of residence.

His family has contributed a security camera to help protect the security and order of the hamlet. In addition, he educates his children and grandchildren not to participate in social evils such as gambling, drugs, cockfighting... and also coordinates with hamlet departments and organizations to propagate and mobilize people to do well, contributing to reducing social evils in the locality.

In the new era, family values play an increasingly important role.

Ms. Duong Thi Nhu Huyen (Tra Con commune) shared: "Women's associations at all levels in the commune are regularly held on regulations on preventing domestic violence and building happy families. In the new era, the family value system plays an increasingly important role. To maintain happiness, members must care, raise children together, and share delicious meals together every day". Entering a new phase, with increasingly high requirements in building culture and developing sustainable families, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh requested to improve the organization of the family work apparatus from the province to the groundswell level, especially at the commune level - where the models are directly deployed; train and coach a team of specialized or part-time staff in a streamlined and effective direction. Innovate communication work, strengthen propaganda on digital technology platforms on family work, moral education, family lifestyle and prevention of domestic violence.

In addition, effectively exploit cultural institutions to serve the propaganda and education of traditional cultural values, while meeting the living and cultural enjoyment needs of the community. Regularly set examples and reward exemplary families; At the same time, condemn and fight against deviant behaviors, create public opinion in the community, contributing to adjusting the awareness, attitude and behavior of each family.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: The important thing is to continue promoting traditional values, especially moral values, standards of conduct in the family and in the community; Developing Vietnamese people in the integration period, transmitting and promoting good traditional values, preventing moral and lifestyle degradation, repelling social negativity and social evils. Although life has changes, the family is still a loving home, an indispensable sacred part of everyone's life, a great spiritual motivation for everyone to strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges of life.
