The Cardiovascular Center - Vinmec Times City Hospital ( Hanoi ) and Vinmec Central Park Hospital (HCMC) have just officially received the certificate of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) on the management of Heart Failure and Coronary Artery Disease. ACC also recognized Vinmec Times City and Vinmec Central Park as the first Cardiovascular Centers of Excellence (COE) in Asia.
ACC accreditation is the world's leading standard for the management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The set of standards includes the most updated recommendations from prestigious professional associations, applied to clinical protocols and technical procedures to ensure comprehensive, continuous and effective treatment, to bring the most optimal results for patients.
After more than a year of program development and implementation, the Cardiovascular Center of Vinmec Times City (Hanoi) and Vinmec Central Park (HCMC) has been recognized by the ACC Evaluation Council as meeting the standards for heart failure management and coronary intervention programs, with 28/28 indicators of the heart failure program and 34/34 indicators of the coronary program achieving the target.
To achieve ACC certification for these two diseases, Vinmec has developed a heart failure management and coronary intervention program, updated clinical protocols according to ACC guidelines/recommendations, standardized the competencies of all medical staff involved in the program, optimized operational flow and implemented innovative initiatives to improve treatment outcomes for cardiovascular patients.
Vinmec has recorded outstanding results after only one year of applying the ACC standards for its heart failure management and coronary intervention program, including a reduction in the average number of days in hospital, a reduction in the rate of complications, and a reduction in the rate of re-hospitalization within 30 days after discharge.
Also within the framework of the ceremony, the ACC Accreditation Council certified the Cardiovascular Center, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital and Central Park International General Hospital as Cardiovascular Centers of Excellence (COE). This certification is only awarded to international hospitals that simultaneously achieve both factors: successfully conquering the certificate in cardiovascular disease management and officially participating in the ACC Database.
Hospitals must demonstrate the effectiveness of applying ACC standards in improving treatment quality, minimizing complications for patients, and commit to continuously standardizing processes based on data collection and analysis. This is the first time ACC has recognized a hospital as a Cardiovascular Center of Excellence in Asia.
Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Phu, Director of Cardiology, Vinmec Healthcare System shared: “At Vinmec, we pursue a value-based healthcare model, focusing on customers, to improve treatment effectiveness while optimizing costs for patients. Before making an indication, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment to ensure that the treatment method is right for the right person, right for the disease and brings optimal treatment results, helping to improve the quality of life of the patient. Being recognized by ACC as a Center of Excellence in Cardiology has affirmed Vinmec's efforts in providing high-quality treatment and care services according to international standards.”
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Kristy Chambers, Representative of the ACC Assessment Council, said: “In more than a year of working with Vinmec, we are truly impressed by the dedication and professional capacity of the leadership team and all of Vinmec's doctors. You have shown us the determination to conquer ACC certifications with your tireless efforts. I believe that this will be the driving force for Vinmec to continuously improve the quality of cardiovascular disease treatment, from good to better and the best. We are very pleased to cooperate with Vinmec's Cardiovascular Center of Excellence in the mission of bringing a healthy heart to everyone.”
ACC is an international non-profit medical organization founded in 1949. Currently, ACC has certified about 200 hospitals worldwide for coronary intervention, and 60 hospitals for heart failure management. In addition to achieving both heart failure management and coronary intervention certifications, Vinmec Times City and Vinmec Central Park are the only two hospitals outside the United States to achieve ACC certification for heart failure management.
