According to the Minister, the transfer of VietNamNet to the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions opens up a new space for the newspaper. If previously, VietNamNet was the voice of the Information and Communications sector - a convergence of technology, innovation and policy communication, now the newspaper will continue to promote its strengths in the cultural, ethnic and religious space of the country.

The Minister shared that in the digital age, communication work on ethnicity and religion is no longer about distorted, one-way information but requires a combination of profound political commentary, advanced technology and humane content. That is the strength that VietNamNet can best promote.

The Minister expects VietNamNet to carry its own identity and values, innovate more strongly, help raise awareness, create consensus and spread major policies on national unity, religious harmony, sustainable development, and be a place to lead political values, both politically steadfast and sharp in modern media thinking. Most importantly, VietNamNet is a companion of the Vietnamese people, whether they are in the plains or the mountains, in the cities or in the villages.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung believes that with a team of dedicated and idealistic journalists, with the foundation built from the very first days, with the strength associated with ethnic and religious work, VietNamNet will continue to write new chapters worthy of its name - political journalism for a diverse and united Vietnam. On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the former leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung respectfully thanks the valuable contributions of all cadres, reporters and editors of VietNamNet newspaper in the past journey and wishes the new journey of the newspaper to continue to be brilliant, proud and worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.

Writing a new mission in the digital age

Speaking at the handover, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung said that this was not only an administrative transfer but also demonstrated the Ministry's deep belief in the VietNamNet brand and the value the newspaper has built over the past 28 years. With a worthy position as one of the major newspapers in Vietnam, the handover event marked the merger of VietNamNet and Ethnic Minorities and Development Newspaper to become the official mouthpiece of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions under the name VietNamNet.

To effectively carry out the newspaper's tasks in the coming time, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions request that the press agencies of the Ministry focus on performing well a number of tasks: Promoting the achievements, overcoming existing limitations to break through and rise up in the new period. Vietnam is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious country, so VietNamNet newspaper is not only a news reporter but also a companion, a bridge between the Party and the people, between policies and life. Each article is the crystallization of dedication, love for the profession and deep affection for compatriots, ethnic groups and religions. The Ministry's press agencies must integrate into the country's life rhythm of ethnic and religious compatriots, closely follow the policies of the central government, the National Assembly, and the Government to proactively, promptly, and creatively deploy information and propaganda work, create a positive media space, and create an atmosphere of determination and drastic action throughout the industry to effectively carry out assigned goals and tasks.

"With many changes in digital journalism, VietNamNet needs to choose its own path, profound, pioneering and technological, must reposition its role in the new era, innovate technology, build digital newspapers, develop ecosystems and apply artificial intelligence in management. It must be a model newspaper, positive journalism, inspirational journalism, arousing aspirations for development, promoting the core and good values of the nation. That is not only a development orientation but also a commitment to responsibility to readers, to the country, to journalists", said Minister Dao Ngoc Dung.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung shared that in the current context, with many pressures from the market and social networks, journalists will not only need professional skills, but also economic thinking, and quick adaptation to technology and practice. Therefore, the leaders of VietNamNet newspaper must maintain the spirit of professional, humane, and upright journalism, and live healthily and develop in a fiercely competitive environment.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions also announced the decision to reorganize the apparatus of its affiliated press agencies.
