Reuters quoted the North Korean news agency KCNA on November 28 as saying that the country's reconnaissance satellite had taken pictures of the White House and the Pentagon in the US. In addition, the satellite also took pictures of aircraft carriers at the US naval base in Norfolk, Virginia.

According to KCNA, these are the latest in a series of photos of "key target areas" collected by the country's satellites, including the South Korean capital Seoul and US military bases.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un received these photos.

North Korea launched a reconnaissance satellite on November 21. In response, South Korea announced a partial suspension of a tension-reduction agreement with North Korea. The measure affects the provision of services in the no-fly zone. South Korea also announced immediate increased surveillance along the military demarcation line with North Korea.

North Korea said on November 23 that it will resume all military measures suspended under a 2018 agreement with South Korea, and will strengthen its forces and deploy new weapons along the demilitarized zone.
