The 2024 AFC U23 Championship is a tournament to select Asian representative teams to participate in men's football at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Accordingly, the top 3 teams of the tournament, including the champion, runner-up and the winner of the third-place match, will directly qualify for France. The losing team in the third-place match will have to play a play-off match against U23 Guinea, the African representative.
FIFA has just decided to hold this play-off match on May 9 with the venue set to be the stadium on the campus of the French Football Federation in the suburbs of Paris.
Thus, the fourth-placed team of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship will have less than a week to prepare for the play-off match for a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics when the third-place match at the 2024 AFC U23 Championship will take place on May 2.
In case U23 Vietnam achieves this position, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will have to continue traveling from Qatar to Paris and get familiar with the stadium, preparing for the match in less than a week.
Of course, before thinking about competing for a ticket to the Paris Olympics, U23 Vietnam needs to pass the group stage of the 2024 U23 Asia Championship, the round in which coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will meet Kuwait (April 17), Malaysia (April 20) and Uzbekistan (April 23).
