Commending the student who won the Gold Medal at the Abu Rayhan Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad 2025

(PLVN) - On the morning of June 23, Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted (Phu Ly City) solemnly held a conference to honor and reward Do Trung Kien - a 12th grade Chemistry student who just won a Gold Medal at the Abu Rayhan Biruni International Chemistry Olympiad in 2025, along with the teachers who directly trained him.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Dinh Thi Lua, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Tran Xuan Duong, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Departmentof Education and Training, the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education, and all staff, teachers and students of the school.

At the International Chemistry Olympiad held in Uzbekistan, Do Trung Kien was one of four students representing Vietnam. With his excellent performance, he not only won the Gold Medal but also had the highest score - the best in the entire Vietnamese delegation. Together with the Vietnamese delegation, the remaining three students won two Gold Medals and one Silver Medal.

Accompanying, teaching and nurturing Kien are teacher Dinh Thi Xoan and teacher Vu Truong Giang - two dedicated teachers of the Chemistry Department of Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted. This brilliant achievement is the result of the perseverance and passion for learning of the students and the dedication and responsibility of the teachers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Dinh Thi Lua, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, congratulated the outstanding achievements that the Ha Nam Education sector had achieved, and affirmed that this was a great source of pride not only for Do Trung Kien personally and the teachers who directly taught him, but also an outstanding achievement of the province's education sector.

She emphasized that this is a vivid proof of the increasingly improving quality of education in Ha Nam - a locality that is always in the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest high school graduation exam scores in the country.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ha Nam has 63 students winning prizes in the national excellent student competition, with 9 second prizes, 24 third prizes and 30 consolation prizes. Notably, Ha Nam has 2 students selected for the team to compete in international and regional Olympic competitions, clearly demonstrating the capacity and development potential of the province's students.

At the conference, Mr. Tran Xuan Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Ms. Dinh Thi Lua presented the Certificate of Merit of the Provincial People's Committee Chairman to Do Trung Kien and two teachers. Awards from the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education were also presented to commend their outstanding contributions.

Do Trung Kien's achievements once again affirm the position, quality and tradition of studiousness of Ha Nam. Speaking at the commendation ceremony, the provincial leaders expected Bien Hoa High School for the Gifted to continue to maintain its role as a core unit in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students, contributing to glorifying the heroic and cultural homeland of Ha Nam on the international knowledge map.
