Hai Phong: Admire beautiful photos of great events of the nation

The exhibition “80 years - forever echoing the heroic song of independence” includes 200 documentary photos summarizing the great events of the Vietnamese people in the August Revolution in 1945 and National Day September 2.

On August 27, at the Center for Culture, Cinema and Exhibition (No. 1 Nguyen Duc Canh, Le Chan Ward, Hai Phong City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong organized the Photo and Document Exhibition "80 years - forever echoing the heroic song of independence"; summarizing and awarding the prize of the Fine Arts and Photography Competition with the theme "Hai Phong - belief and aspiration to rise up."

The exhibition “80 years - forever echoing the heroic song of independence” includes 200 documentary photos summarizing the great events of the Vietnamese people in the August Revolution in 1945 and National Day September 2.

In addition, the photo series also introduces the achievements of the country and Hai Phong city in the fields of: Economy , society, national defense and security, health, and education over the past 80 years.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong Vu Khac Lich, the fine arts and photography contest with the theme "Hai Phong - belief and aspiration to rise up" organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) attracted the participation of many professional and amateur photographers with nearly 600 entries.

The Organizing Committee selected and awarded 22 prizes (11 prizes for photography, 11 prizes for fine arts).

Each category has 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 5 Consolation Prizes. The First Prize in the Fine Arts category belongs to author Pham Anh Tuan with the work Afternoon on the Street, painted in oil. The First Prize in the Photography category belongs to author Giang Son Dong with a series of photos on the theme of Hai Phong entering a new era.

The Organizing Committee has selected 140 of the highest quality fine arts and photography works from 600 entries for display.

Commenting on the works participating in the exhibition, photographer Vu Huyen, Chairman of the Art Council of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, said: These are typical photographic works that are both artistic and journalistic, helping those who have not been to Hai Phong to know the beauty, strengths and rapid changes of the Port City every day.

Photographer Vu Huyen believes that in the coming time, with the strength of a locality with many photography clubs and a team of young, vibrant photographers, artists need to make efforts to have more works that go deep into recording, depicting, and reflecting the beauty of the people of the port city in production and in daily life.

Veteran Tran Van Giap (living in An Bien ward, Hai Phong city) said: Visiting the exhibition, he saw Hai Phong's achievements clearly depicted through the photos. People felt more love and pride in Hai Phong's future development.

The exhibition is open to the public from now until September 5, 2025./.
