Associate Professor Kim Bao Giang received the resolution appointing the vice principal in charge of professional affairs from Professor Ta Thanh Van.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper, Professor Ta Thanh Van said that after about 20 years, Hanoi Medical University has had a woman on the board of directors. The most recent period when Hanoi Medical University had a woman on the board of directors was when Professor Ton That Bach was the principal (1993 - 2003). During that period, Hanoi Medical University had 2 women on the board of directors, Professor Pham Thi Minh Duc and Dr. Nguyen Thi Ha. In the more than 120-year history of Hanoi Medical University, very few women have participated in the board of directors of this oldest university in Indochina. The school has had 16 principals, all of whom were men.

Associate Professor Kim Bao Giang, 51 years old, graduated from Hanoi Medical University in 1996 with a degree in general medicine. After that, Ms. Giang was retained at the school as a teaching assistant, then a lecturer until now. During her time at the school, Ms. Giang was sent to study for a master's degree at Umea University and a doctorate at Karolinska Institute, both in Sweden.

Ms. Giang was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Medicine in 2011 (at that time, the State implemented a title-awarding mechanism for the titles of Associate Professor and Professor, not the current title-appointment mechanism).

Before being appointed vice-rector, Associate Professor Kim Bao Giang was the Director of the Center for Testing andEducation Quality Assurance (Hanoi Medical University). Since being appointed vice-rector, Associate Professor Kim Bao Giang has continued to hold this position.
