Toyota has recently officially announced that it will stop accepting orders for the Land Cruiser LC300 gasoline engine version in the domestic market. This is a development that has lasted since 2023 and continues to affect the 2025 upgraded version. However, in the latest announcement, Toyota did not mention the diesel variant, leading many to expect that this model could still be ordered. However, when Best Car contacted the company directly, Toyota confirmed that Japanese customers can still order the diesel Land Cruiser, specifically the high-end versions such as ZX and GR Sport.
However, Toyota also emphasized that the number of diesel engines allocated to the Japanese market is extremely limited, even much lower than the previous gasoline versions. Although it did not announce specific numbers, the company implied that these were almost "special priority" orders. Best Car also did a quick survey at several Toyota dealers in the Tokyo area. All confirmed that placing an order is possible in theory, but very difficult to do in practice. One of the main reasons is that customers who have been waiting for the petrol version will be given priority to switch to the diesel version if they need it, which causes the waiting list to continue to grow.
In addition, many customers who had intended to buy the petrol version changed their mind after the diesel version was released, increasing the pressure on the already limited supply. Therefore, the chance of owning a car for new customers is almost zero. Toyota has said it is working to shorten delivery times for Land Cruiser customers in Japan, but in reality there has been little improvement. In that context, the launch of the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 hybrid version in some international markets makes the future of the diesel version even more uncertain.
In Vietnam, the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is currently only distributed with the option of a 3.5L V6 turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 409 horsepower and 650 Nm of maximum torque. The car is imported completely, with a listed price from 4.58 billion VND, competing in the luxury SUV segment with rivals such as Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7 or Audi Q7. Despite its high price, the LC300 is still a model that is especially popular with Vietnamese users thanks to its reputation for durability, off-road performance and value retention after many years of use. There was a time when this SUV model was priced up to billions of VND due to scarce supply.
