Previously, the power lines to Bang Giang and Ban Tham villages, Hoa Tham commune were mainly pulled by the people themselves with an unsafe wire system, the poles were mainly made of bamboo, which posed potential dangers, and the electricity was not enough to meet the daily needs as well as the production development of the people. In 2024, from the poverty reduction program fund, the State invested in building new and renovating the low-voltage power lines in Bang Giang and Ban Tham villages with a length of nearly 3.8 km with a total investment of nearly 1.8 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Uy, Vice Chairman of Hoa Tham Commune People's Committee said: The completion of the project has significantly contributed to helping people in the two villages use electricity safely and stably. Thereby, helping people have more favorable conditions to develop production and improve their lives.
Similar to Hoa Tham commune, from the poverty reduction program fund, from 2021 to now, Tri Le commune has invested in infrastructure works to serve the socio -economic development of the people. Notably, the project to renovate and upgrade the DH.59 Ban Gieng - Deo Cuom road through Tri Le commune. The project has a total investment of nearly 6 billion VND, the implementation time is 2024. After completion, the project has created favorable conditions for people to travel.
Mr. Trieu Van Cam, Deo Luong village, Tri Le commune said: Previously, the Ban Gieng - Deo Cuom road was paved, but after many years of use, the road has seriously degraded. In 2024, the State invested in renovating and upgrading the road. The completed road not only helps change the appearance of the countryside here but also directly contributes to facilitating the daily life, production development, and consumption of goods of local people.
Along with the above 2 communes, in recent years, relevant levels and sectors have deployed solutions to effectively implement Project 1 under the sustainable poverty reduction program. Accordingly, relevant units have organized a review and assessment of the current situation and needs for investment in socio-economic infrastructure in each locality, thereby allocating resources to support communes (belonging to the 2 poor districts of Van Quan and Binh Gia in the past) to invest in developing socio-economic infrastructure. Specifically, from 2021 to June 2025, relevant levels and sectors in the province have deployed investment in the construction of 125 projects in the fields of transportation, irrigation, electricity, education , health, cultural houses, sports fields; 33 projects for maintenance, repair and maintenance of roads, works serving people's lives, production, essential works... with a total investment of about 515 billion VND.
The built infrastructure works have made an important contribution to the general socio-economic development in the area. Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: From the implementation of investment support for socio-economic infrastructure development under Project 1 of the sustainable poverty reduction program, it has contributed to consolidating infrastructure, promoting production development as well as improving the lives of people in difficult areas. Thereby directly contributing to socio-economic development as well as reducing the poverty rate in the province.
Specifically, in 2024, the poverty rate in the province will be 3.36% (in the period 2021-2024, the poverty rate in the province will decrease by an average of 2.95%/year); it is estimated that in 2025, the poverty rate in the province will be 1.36%, a decrease of 2% compared to 2024.
From July 1, 2025, along with other localities nationwide, Lang Son will operate a two-level local government model, with 65 communes and wards in the province. Therefore, in the coming time, the implementation of programs and projects will be adjusted to suit the reality. The results achieved in poverty reduction in general, including the project to build infrastructure for socio-economic development in disadvantaged areas in recent years, will be an important premise for the province to continue to successfully implement socio-economic development goals in 2025 and the following years.
