Potential for community tourism development

An Giang, with its diverse terrain (mountains, plains, rivers, islands), ethnic groups - religions, economic types; friendly and enthusiastic people... has a lot of potential for developing community tourism. In particular, this type of tourism not only helps protect resources and ecological environment, but also preserves and promotes the unique cultural features of the locality in a sustainable way.

Not only is it famous for its rich natural landscape with rivers, plains and mountains, and islands, An Giang province is also a land that converges the unique cultural identities of many ethnic communities living together such as Kinh, Khmer, Cham and Hoa... In the context of tourism development associated with preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, the community tourism model associated with experiencing indigenous culture is gradually taking shape and affirming its important role in the province's sustainable socio -economic development strategy.

Currently, community tourism tours and routes in An Giang province have been put into operation and have received positive reception from tourists. In Chau Phong commune, local Cham ethnic people have joined together to launch the Cham Village Community Tourism Cooperative model, led by Mr. Mohamad (owner of the Cham brocade weaving facility in Chau Phong commune).

The service here will take visitors to visit famous local tourist attractions; experience the cuisine , life, and production activities of the people. Specifically, visiting the production process of tung lo mo (beef sausage) of Anas household business - one of the typical rural industrial products of the locality; enjoying grilled beef cake (Ha-co) of artisan Ro Phi A. Visitors can also experience the brocade weaving process at Mr. Mohamad's brocade weaving facility; taking pictures of the traditional "wedding room" of the Cham people, restored by the facility.

The next journey will take visitors to visit Mubarak Mosque, one of the largest mosques in An Giang province, and watch the Cham music performance team with Rap-Ba-Na drums. Visitors can also visit an ancient house that is over 100 years old in Phum Soai hamlet. At the same time, enjoy lunch with traditional dishes: Ni rice, tung lo mo, ca hammer, boiled vegetables, curry... Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that the experience was very interesting, because she learned more about the culture and life of the local Cham people. Ms. Lan also hopes that this type of tourism will develop so that many visitors can have interesting experiences when visiting and traveling to Cham villages...

For Cu Lao Gieng commune, the combination of natural scenery and long-standing culture has become a highlight for domestic and foreign tourists. The impressive experience of many people is to immerse themselves in the cool, green, tree-lined roads, breathing the fresh air of a peaceful countryside. In addition, they can visit the famous boat and canoe building village that has existed for more than 100 years; listen to time-stained stories next to the hundred-year-old ancient houses. At the same time, enjoy local specialties of food and fruit.

In addition, An Giang province has many large and small islands that have long been known to many people. In addition to the "pearl island" Phu Quoc, Hon Son (Kien Hai special zone) with clean beaches and fine sand creates a sense of serenity and peace for visitors. Coming here, visitors can also experience: exploring the saddle slope, conquering Ma Thien Lanh peak; diving to catch snails, watching corals and fishing for squid, fishing, pulling nets... "These are really quite interesting experiences for me. I have been to Hon Son many times, each time I have my own unique emotions, very difficult to describe" - Ms. Le Thi Huynh Dao, a tourist from Can Tho shared.
