According to the special correspondent of VNA, during his official visit to Estonia, on the afternoon of June 6, in the capital Tallinn, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam-Estonia business dialogue.
Also attending were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna; leaders of ministries, government agencies and many Vietnamese-Estonian businesses.
At the seminar, leaders of ministries, branches, associations and enterprises of Vietnam and Estonia introduced the potential, strengths, competitive advantages and cooperation and investment needs of each side; at the same time, discussed solutions to promote economic-trade-investment cooperation between Vietnam and Estonia.
Delegates said that Vietnam-Estonia relations are developing well, however economic relations between the two sides remain modest.
Trade turnover between the two countries has increased steadily over the years, but will only reach 73.8 million USD by 2024.
Estonia currently has 35 enterprises present in Vietnam and 5 valid direct investment projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of 280,000 USD.
Delegates assessed that Vietnam is located in a dynamic and high-growth economic region; and Estonia is a world leader in digital transformation.
The two countries are promoting increasingly substantive and effective bilateral cooperation; ready to be a bridge for each side to penetrate deeper into each other's regional market.
Emphasizing the role of businesses in promoting bilateral cooperation, delegates said that the two sides will strengthen connections, organize business delegations to visit and learn about each other's investment cooperation, especially in the fields of science, technology, digital transformation, energy, aviation, etc.

Speaking at the seminar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that he and the Estonian Prime Minister had just had a very successful meeting, in which both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially promoting political relations, creating a foundation for economic cooperation.
The two sides agreed to further expand economic, trade and investment cooperation, areas where the two countries still have great potential; effectively exploit the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) when approved to bring benefits to consumers and for the development of the two countries.
In particular, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation - areas in which Estonia has strengths and Vietnam has needs.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the two sides agreed to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of businesses of the two countries in each country, and affirmed that they always welcome and encourage businesses of each country to cooperate, invest and do business, especially in the fields of digital transformation, cloud computing, Internet of Things, etc.
Informing delegates about the situation in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is promoting three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure and human resource training, ensuring "open institutions, smooth infrastructure, smart human resources;" carrying out a "revolution" in the arrangement and organization of the apparatus, changing the passive state to a proactive one, creating to serve the people and businesses; especially Vietnam is implementing the "four pillars" to bring the country into a new development stage, with the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045, initially achieving a growth target of 8% or more in 2025 and double digits in the following years.

Affirming that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for Estonian enterprises to penetrate deeply into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) market; and wishing that Estonia will be a bridge for Vietnamese enterprises to enter the Baltic countries and the Nordic countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on Vietnamese and Estonian enterprises to strengthen connections, contributing to connecting the two economies so that the two sides can listen and understand each other; share visions and actions; work together, win together, enjoy together, develop together and share joy, happiness and pride.
The Prime Minister suggested that Estonian enterprises continue to support and accompany the Government and Vietnamese enterprises to open new doors, expand investment cooperation in areas where both sides have many strengths and potentials; increase exchanges, continue to maintain and expand cooperation, ensure stable production activities for the benefit of both sides in a diverse, transparent and sustainable manner; boldly and proactively have breakthrough, creative and modern solutions, take advantage of and seize opportunities for development cooperation, contributing to the development of Vietnam in particular and the world in general.
In the spirit of “harmonized benefits, shared risks,” “what is said must be done, what is committed must be done, what is done must have products,” the Vietnamese Government affirms that it will always accompany, listen, support and create all favorable conditions for the business community in general and foreign investors in particular to invest successfully, sustainably and long-term in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expects and believes that businesses from both countries will come to cooperate, invest and do business successfully in each other's countries, contributing to the socio-economic development of both Vietnam and Estonia, and to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
