Pets make the elderly less lonely. They consider pets as friends. |
Your friend's story reminds me of Mr. Van (my father's friend), a retired cadre, who also raised a dog named Ti Top, a Chihuahua. He said: When I first retired, I was bored at home so I decided to buy Ti Top to raise. Every morning, I took him for a walk in the park, did some small training exercises, and then chatted like two friends, feeling refreshed and peaceful.
In the midst of modern life with its many worries and pressures, pets have become silent "four-legged friends", always there, ready to wait for us to come home with a wagging tail, an affectionate look or a cooing cry and then nuzzling their little heads into our legs, so cute it breaks our hearts.
“Just stepping into the house and seeing Mo Ka, the British Shorthair cat, stretching and snuggling at my feet, all my worries seem to disappear!” - Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong (a bank employee in Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Zone) shared. She said that every evening she spends time petting and talking to Mo Ka. At times like that, her mind naturally becomes less stressed, calmer and more at peace.
Not only Mo Ka and Ti Top bring joy to their owners, Mr. Hao, an electrician in Quyet Thang ward, also finds joy in raising a Corgi dog named Nau.
He said: Every time I go on a business trip, I miss Nau terribly, I worry that my family will be careless and let it get lost and be taken away; I worry that Nau will not be taken care of properly... Every day I call my mother to remind her, which makes her angry. When I return, seeing Nau jumping around, clinging to me and showing joy, all my fatigue disappears.
The beauty of pets helps owners reduce stress. |
Not only that, through community groups such as “Pets Thai Nguyen - Pamper your pet to the fullest”, “People who love dogs and cats Thai Nguyen”… pet owners can meet, share experiences in care, medical examination, and even organize meetings in parks or the suburbs.
They not only share cute pictures of their pets, but also pass on encouraging stories, scientific information about vaccinations, nutrition, and animal learning behavior. From online communities to real-life interactions, the connection is stronger - people find each other through their love of animals.
Through research and experience of many pet owners: Playing and petting pets after stressful working hours helps people reduce stress; elderly people living alone feel less lonely, increase alertness and emotional balance; the feeling of responsibility for taking care of a small creature makes people have a more positive attitude, more self-awareness in daily life...
