Currently, the Air Defense - Air Force only has 2 airports equipped with a pair of new generation foreign-made range, direction and distance measuring relay stations that meet this technical requirement.
Based on the research on the information system, flight assurance radar as well as the range-correction, direction-correction, and telemetry relay radio station (PRMG) and through the process of surveying the current situation, researching and analyzing the technical, tactical, structural, and technological features of the PRMG-5 and PRMG-76YM radio stations, Factory Z119 (Air Defense - Air Force) has successfully researched the topic "Research, design and manufacture of a pair of range-correction, direction-correction, and telemetry relay radio stations for landing military aircraft". The topic has technical and tactical features equivalent to the PRMG-76 radio pair produced by the Russian Federation.

The project focuses on studying the overview of landing support systems used in civil and military applications; repairing, restoring and synchronizing antenna systems; calibration modulation, transmission and frequency conversion control systems; regional parameter testing systems, measuring equipment, test receivers; automatic opening and backup equipment and power systems; remote control equipment; monitoring and fault diagnosis systems for the entire station; telemetry receiving and relaying systems...
In addition, the project has decoded the structure, operating principles, adjustment and calibration principles of the functional blocks of the pair of standard range, standard direction and telemetry relay stations. The project has also modeled the process of creating a range and direction diagram in the form of mathematical equations and block diagrams, as a basis for further research and application of modern technology in the military field to provide survey reports on the impacts on the operation of the functional blocks; build simulation, processing and creation software to serve the design, manufacture, evaluation, repair and restoration of the functional blocks of the pair of standard range, standard direction and telemetry relay stations.
The main cabinet structure of the newly manufactured pair of radio reference stations for range calibration (K8-Z), direction calibration and telemetry relay (K9-Z) is modularized, separated into layers, easy to deploy and retrieve. Some programs in the programmable components (chips) of the Russian Federation are newly written by the Factory's engineering team, convenient for exploitation and use. The amplifier blocks, telemetry receivers, display methods on modules and circuit boards are improved and optimized by Factory Z119.
The success of the project affirms that for the first time Vietnam has designed and manufactured a pair of range and direction calibration and telemetry relay stations. This product serves the mission of training, combat readiness, improving repair capabilities at units; saving costs for purchasing and repairing military equipment, helping staff have access to current advanced technology and techniques. The project opens up a new direction in research and application of the latest technologies in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, device control programming technology and application programming, orienting future research. The project won second prize in the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2024.
