Accordingly, the City People's Committee agreed on the policy of piloting the installation of QR codes for street names using sub-signs on 139 existing street name columns in Hoan Kiem district; funding for implementation comes from the Hoan Kiem district budget.

The City People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District to receive comments and instructions from departments and branches (in Official Dispatch No. 4674/BC-SGTVT dated July 29, 2024 of the Department of Transport), implement from September 2024; organize assessment of effectiveness and implementation results, and report to the City People's Committee in December 2024.

The Departments of Transport, Culture and Sports, Information and Communications, and City Police, based on their assigned functions and tasks, coordinate with the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District during the implementation process to ensure urban aesthetics and traffic order and safety.

Previously, according to information from the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, through the review, there are currently about 1,261 signs of all kinds in the district, including about 668 traffic signs and about 593 street name signs. The street name sign system includes 92 types placed on poles and attached to the walls of houses. On average, at intersections, there are from 1 to 6 traffic signs, with some intersections having 9 or more traffic signs such as Phung Hung - Hang Bong, Hang Bai - Ly Thuong Kiet, Cau Dat border gate. Many large-sized signs, mounted on different poles, occupy sidewalk space, affecting pedestrians, and some signs are not installed in reasonable locations.

Accordingly, the arrangement and improvement of traffic signs, street name signs, and QR codes will be piloted on streets in Hanoi's Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake area and surrounding areas. Including integrating sign posts to reduce the number of sign posts, adjusting the color of the posts to ensure urban aesthetics in accordance with regulations and standards; adjusting the size of traffic signs. At the same time, piloting the integration of QR codes into existing street name signs - QR codes will integrate the main information of the streets.
