Of which, there were 1,979 road traffic accidents, killing 834 people and injuring 1,535 people. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 332 cases (20.16%), a decrease of 63 deaths (7.02%), and an increase of 430 injuries (38.91%).

There were 12 railway accidents, killing 9 people and injuring 2 people, an increase of 2 accidents (20%), 1 death (12.5%), and 1 injury (100%) compared to the same period last year. There were 4 waterway accidents, killing 2 people and injuring no one, unchanged in the number of accidents, deaths, and injuries compared to the same period in 2023. There were no maritime accidents.

In April 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 14 mandatory safety reports, with 7 level D incidents occurring, an increase of 2 incidents compared to the same period in 2023. One incident was caused by technical failure, 1 incident was caused by bird strike, 4 incidents were caused by the flight crew, and 1 incident was caused by technical staff.

According to Mr. Tran Huu Minh, Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in the first 4 months of 2024 (from December 15, 2023 to April 14, 2024), there were 8,548 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 3,569 people and injuring 6,783 people. Compared to the first 4 months of 2023, although there was an increase of 1,528 cases (21.77%), an increase of 2,278 injured people (50.57%), but a decrease of 547 deaths (13.29%).

Of these, road traffic accidents accounted for the majority, with 8,475 cases occurring, killing 3,520 people and injuring 6,774 people, an increase of 1,511 cases (21.7%), a decrease of 553 deaths (13.58%), and an increase of 2,275 injuries (50.57%) compared to the same period last year.

There were 52 railway accidents, killing 39 people and injuring 7 people, an increase of 13 accidents (33.33%), an increase of 10 deaths (34.48%), an increase of 1 injured person (16.67%); there were 18 waterway accidents, killing 9 people and injuring 2 people, an increase of 4 accidents (28.57%), a decrease of 3 deaths (25%), an increase of 2 injured people; there were 3 maritime accidents, killing 1 person and injuring no one, no change in the number of accidents and injuries, a decrease of 1 death and missing person (50%) compared to the same period last year.

According to statistics for the first 4 months of 2024 (from December 16, 2023 to April 15, 2024), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam received 60 mandatory safety reports, with 27 level D incidents occurring. Compared to the same period in 2023, there was an increase of 1 level D incident (4%), a decrease of 2 level C incidents (100%). The causes were 16 incidents due to technical failure, 10 incidents due to human error (1 due to the flight crew and weather factors, 4 incidents due to the flight crew, 3 due to technical staff, 1 due to ground staff, 1 due to air traffic control).
