The incident occurred at the Stade du 5 Juillet stadium, which has a capacity of more than 64,000 people. According to Algerian media, this venue used to have a capacity of 110,000 spectators during the international friendly match between Algeria and Serbia in 2010, but due to serious deterioration, the capacity of this stadium has been reduced by nearly half.

This is considered the most serious tragedy in football history.
