Strengthening cooperation between Vietnamese and Lao press agencies

According to VNA correspondent in Laos, on the afternoon of June 17, in the capital Vientiane, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held a meeting and worked with Lao press agencies and Vietnamese press agencies stationed in Laos.

The event took place in an exciting atmosphere towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

Attending the meeting were Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Laopaoxiong Navongxay; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; leaders of central and local press agencies of Laos; and representatives of Vietnamese press agencies operating in Laos.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam emphasized the special significance of the event, affirming that this was the first official meeting with the full participation of management agencies and press of the two countries.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the effective coordination between the Vietnamese and Lao press in propaganda and foreign information work, contributing to consolidating and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The Ambassador proposed a number of cooperation orientations in the coming time such as: strengthening coordination between press agencies of the two countries in sharing information and professional experience; creating favorable conditions for reporters to work, especially in major events; promoting propaganda content about the relationship between the two countries, innovation achievements, and development policies; applying modern technology on digital platforms to reach the public, especially the youth; at the same time, asking the Lao side to support the broadcasting of the new English-language TV channel of Vietnam Television in Laos through the VL2000 friendship broadcasting infrastructure and OTT platform.

On the Lao side, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Laopaoxiong Navongxay affirmed that the press of the two countries has played, is playing and will continue to play an important role in promoting the special Laos-Vietnam relationship; at the same time, he highly appreciated the active and effective cooperation of Vietnamese press agencies in Laos in recent times, not only supporting the dissemination of major policies and guidelines of the Lao Party and State to the international community, but also contributing to deepening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Laos.

The Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party also affirmed that he will continue to create favorable conditions and support Vietnamese press agencies in their professional activities in Laos, and at the same time hope that the press of the two countries will increase exchanges, share experiences, support each other in propaganda work, and jointly build a modern revolutionary press, closely linked to the development practices of each country and the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

The meeting is a vivid demonstration of the extensive and effective press cooperation between the two countries, and is also an opportunity for press agencies of both sides to strengthen their relationship and develop coordination plans in the coming time, especially in major events of the two countries.

At the meeting, leaders of the press agencies of the two countries agreed and emphasized the particularly important role of the press in enhancing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries, contributing to consolidating and promoting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Delegates said that in the context of strong digital media development, press agencies need to constantly innovate content, forms of expression, and apply modern technology to provide timely, accurate information and widely disseminate it to domestic and international audiences.

The press is not only a bridge of information, but also a pioneer in propaganda work, guiding public opinion, refuting false information, protecting the Party's ideological foundation and strengthening the great solidarity between the two nations.

Leaders of the press agencies of the two countries also affirmed that they will continue to promote a sense of responsibility and coordinate more closely in the coming time to effectively carry out foreign information and propaganda tasks, contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, authorized by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam presented Certificates of Merit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to collectives and individuals of Vietnamese press agencies in Laos for their positive contributions to foreign propaganda and information work./.
