DTO - Demonstrating solidarity and unanimity in the new rural construction movement, people in Tan Nhuan Dong commune ( Dong Thap province) voluntarily donated hundreds of square meters of land and working days. Thanks to that, roads bearing the imprint of "Party's will and people's heart" were expanded, creating a new look for the countryside.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nhung, Cay Da Street (Tan Hoa Hamlet) was previously just a small, narrow dike. After being expanded, people's travel became more convenient.
Pioneer in donating land to expand roads
Previously, the Cay Da road leading to National Highway 80 was quite narrow, causing significant difficulties for people to travel and transport goods. In early 2024, the People's Committee of Tan Nhuan Dong commune proposed to expand the rural road and consult with people about the implementation plan. Realizing the common benefit, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhung - a resident living on the road took the lead in moving the fence about 1m along the entire length of his land (about 200m) to make way for the road. Mr. Nhung shared, even if there was a request to move it 1.5 - 2m, I am still willing to do it because of the long-term benefits that the road brings to myself, my family and the community.
Mr. Nhung's meaningful action created a strong ripple effect. Immediately afterwards, more than 40 other households along the 2km road also agreed to donate land and dismantle structures to hand over the site. Thanks to this consensus, the road was constructed urgently, ensuring quality and completed by the end of 2024, bringing great joy to the people.
Mr. Nhung emphasized that although “an inch of land is an inch of gold” for farmers, donating land for road construction still received great support. He was proud that people understood the benefits of the new rural construction program and actively contributed to building their homeland. Looking at the completed spacious and neat road, Mr. Nhung and the people were extremely satisfied and proud of their contribution.
Share the common path
In a small hamlet in Tan Thuan Hamlet, Tan Nhuan Dong Commune (Phat Mau Pagoda Road), 6 households share a single path leading to Highway 80. This path is located entirely on the land of Mr. Vo Phuoc Hai's family. For many years, Mr. Hai and his family have been giving rides to people in the hamlet without calculating the pros and cons.
Mr. Hai said that the road, about 200m long, from his house to Highway 80 is his family's land, opened after the liberation day. At first, it was just a dirt road for his family's travel, but when many households came to live, they also used this road. His family is still happy to let everyone use it. The road is currently about 3m wide, and the neighbors together contributed money to pour concrete. In the near future, Mr. Hai plans to continue calling for everyone's support to repair and widen the beginning of the road, making travel more convenient.
Mr. Hai's noble actions have created a strong ripple effect. From his example, the surrounding people are also more aware of contributing to the community. Some contribute labor, some contribute money, all join hands to take care of and preserve the common road. The neighborhood relationship has since become even closer...

According to the People's Committee of Tan Nhuan Dong Commune, in recent times, the movement of donating land to build rural roads in the commune has spread strongly, receiving the consent and support of the people. The contributions of the people have significantly contributed to the expansion and extension of the roads. From the motto "The State and the People work together", in recent years, Tan Nhuan Dong Commune has had dozens of households donating land, with the amount of money up to billions of VND.
The key point that helped the campaign to donate land for road construction in Tan Nhuan Dong achieve high results is that the locality has promoted democracy. All project information is public and transparent, the locality organizes meetings with people, listens to opinions, thoughts and aspirations of the people. The spacious roads built and put into use have met the travel needs of the people. This is considered a lever to change the face of the countryside, promote economic , cultural and social development in the commune.
With the admirable gesture of Mr. Nguyen Van Nhung, Mr. Vo Phuoc Hai and many other households, it has created a ripple effect in the community, contributing to changing the rural appearance of Tan Nhuan Dong commune every day, completing the criteria in the local model new rural construction program.
