Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Phan Thi Bich Ha, former Principal of the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that in the history of cinema, Vietnam has had a team that can be called the "golden generation". "So why is the issue of building new filmmakers in Vietnam now raised? This is necessary for Vietnam because if we want to develop sustainably, we must invest in the next generation, to add more creative energy, update more new and modern technical requirements. Creative thinking also needs to change, especially in the stormy development of science and technology like today", Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Bich Ha said.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thi Bich Ha, the contributions of pioneer filmmakers, frontline cameramen, and battlefield directors are valuable foundations in the history of national cinema. But over time, especially entering a new era, the context of film production and distribution has changed, so the filmmaking career needs to integrate with the world . Therefore, it is necessary to train a new generation of filmmakers who not only know how to tell stories through moving images but also know how to grasp many means and many modern technological "weapons".
The workshop attracted many filmmakers, directors, lecturers... to participate in giving advice.

Ms. Bich Ha believes that discovering and nurturing young film talents is not only the task of training schools but also requires the support of the state, social organizations and businesses. International experience shows that in order to nurture talented young filmmakers, it is necessary to build a comprehensive support ecosystem, from training, consulting, financial support... to creating opportunities to screen works and opportunities for career development. Within the framework of DANAFF 3, there is an activity that has become annual and brought much interest and excitement to young people: workshops called Nurturing Talents, contributing to bringing energy and inspiration to future artists, young filmmakers...
TRAINING FILMMAKERS AND… VIEWERS
Director, Master Nguyen Hong Quan, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, commented: With the context of globalization and increasingly deep international integration, international cooperation in film training has become an inevitable trend. And "the reality is that whether it is international training or domestic training, school is a place for you to confidently speak your own language, tell your own stories. I think that is the future of cinema, of young filmmakers...", Mr. Quan said.

Putting the issue from the audience perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Cam Giang (University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said that in the past, state-owned films were dominant, but now this genre is shrinking, giving way to commercial and independent films. This reality poses new requirements in film training not only in terms of technique or theory but also in "nurturing" the audience's aesthetic taste. The debates surrounding the film Bi, Dung So (2010) show the difference in aesthetics between domestic and international audiences, clearly reflecting the different "range of expectations". To build a diverse and innovative cinema, it is necessary to accept works that "cause disruption of familiar tastes". Therefore, training a new generation of filmmakers must go hand in hand with improving the public's level of enjoyment. The audience is not only the viewer, but also the decisive factor in the development of cinema through the ability to receive, accompany and promote creativity.

Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development and Director of DANAFF, affirmed that one of the core goals of DANAFF is to discover, nurture and create conditions for young talents in the field of cinema, in order to help Vietnam and the region catch up with the strong progress of world cinema. She emphasized that for a cinema to develop sustainably and be recognized by the world, there needs to be quality works created by young, energetic and creative filmmakers. Activities such as acting workshops and Asian art film project markets have initially yielded results, creating a foundation for the young generation of directors to realize their career dreams. Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan said that she will collect the conference papers to edit into a specialized book, contributing to promoting the ecosystem for the development of Vietnamese cinema.
