It is not DeepSeek, but Zhipu AI, an unknown name with a "sovereign AI" strategy that is the biggest threat to America's technological position.

Zhipu AI is a rare Chinese startup named by OpenAI in a blog warning of its growing global influence. Not focusing on purely technical AI models like DeepSeek, Zhipu AI builds sovereign AI infrastructure for countries.
The startup has received more than $1.4 billion from Chinese state funds and an additional $400 million from Saudi Arabian investors. Zhipu AI has expanded to many countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, UK and the Middle East with innovation centers and government networks.
The company also partners with Huawei to provide its own hardware and LLM model to serve the government, creating a long-term dependency. OpenAI warns that Zhipu AI is rapidly spreading the spread of “Chinese AI standards” in emerging markets ahead of the US and Europe. With a valuation of nearly $2.8 billion and preparing for an IPO, Zhipu AI is emerging as a new force in the global AI race.
Although controversial, OpenAI's move shows that the US is truly concerned about this quiet but dangerous expansion strategy. Dear readers, please watch more videos : AI Trash Cleaning | Hanoi 18:00
