(DTO) On August 22, the Department of Justice of Dong Thap province organized a ceremony to hand over and receive adopted children with foreign elements in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Adoption.

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Tan Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Justice; civil servants of the Department of Judicial Administration and Judicial Support; the child's biological parents, Mr. Do Vi Nhan and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao; the adoptive parents, Mr. Beattie David Stephen and Ms. Beattie Vankhanh, and Do Nguyen Bao Long, born on February 5, 2012, residing in Hoa Thuan hamlet, Phu Huu commune, Dong Thap province.

Accordingly, Do Nguyen Bao Long, residing in Hoa Thuan hamlet, Phu Huu commune, Dong Thap province, was adopted by foreigners Mr. Beattie David Stephen and Mrs. Beattie Vankhanh (British nationality).
At the Ceremony, after approving the Decision of the Department of Justice on foreign-related adoption, the parties carried out the procedures for signing the Adoption Registration Book and the Minutes of Adoption Handover in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Adoption and its implementing guidelines.
Comrade Nguyen Tan Phong congratulated the family of Mr. Beattie David Stephen and Mrs. Beattie Vankhanh on having a new member. This is the case of an aunt adopting her nephew. In addition, Comrade Nguyen Tan Phong also explained that between an adoptive father and an adopted child, there are full rights and obligations of a father and child; the adopted child can change and supplement the family register according to the law...

At the same time, Mr. Beattie David Stephen and Ms. Beattie Vankhanh are requested to comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law on adoption. Accordingly, every 6 months within 3 years from the date of handover of the adopted child, the adoptive parents are responsible for informing in writing about the health, physical and mental condition, and integration of the adopted child with the adoptive parents, family and community to the Ministry of Justice and the Representative Office of Vietnam in the United Kingdom.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Beattie David Stephen and Mrs. Beattie Vankhanh pledged to comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law on adoption. At the same time, they pledged to raise, educate and love Do Nguyen Bao Long as their own child so that he can develop comprehensively.
