(Dan Tri) - US Vice President JD Vance criticized the approach of European countries towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Vice President Vance accused America’s European allies of “inflating the ego” of Mr Zelensky. Mr Vance said that encouraging the Ukrainian leader to reject compromise was harming his own people.
On February 28, Mr. Zelensky was asked to leave the White House after a heated argument with Mr. Vance and President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
In an interview with Fox News on March 3, Mr. Vance accused senior European officials - who spoke out in support of Mr. Zelensky after the incident - of "inflating the Ukrainian leader's personal ego."
“They say Mr. Zelensky is a freedom fighter, he has to keep fighting forever. But forever fighting for what? With whose money, whose ammunition and whose lives?” Mr. Vance asked.
The US vice president asserted that while some European leaders privately acknowledge that aid to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia cannot be extended indefinitely, they have publicly promised to support Kiev for the next 10 years. He argued that this move is “disadvantaging the Ukrainian people”.
Mr. Vance said Mr. Zelensky’s White House visit was initially a formality, but turned into a heated argument when the Ukrainian leader rejected the possibility of diplomatic dialogue with Russia. Senator Lindsey Graham, a strong supporter of Ukraine, called for Mr. Zelensky to resign after the incident. However, the Ukrainian leader has said he will not leave office.
“When you lose Lindsey Graham, it means you need to come to the table and realize that President Donald Trump is the only option,” Vance said. He stressed that continuing to pour resources into the war and hoping that Ukraine will turn the tide on the battlefield “is not a strategy.”
After the White House incident, Mr. Zelensky insisted that he had done nothing wrong and traveled to London, England, to discuss with European leaders. Over the weekend, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the formation of a "coalition of the willing" that could deploy troops to Ukraine, provided a peace deal with Russia was reached.
Many European officials say any such mission would require US support, while the Trump administration has ruled out deploying US troops to Ukraine.
Previously, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that it was President Zelensky who caused the meeting with President Trump to fail, so Mr. Zelensky needed to apologize.
"He needs to apologize for letting this happen. Don't come here and lecture us about how diplomacy won't work. Mr. Zelensky went in that direction and the outcome was exactly as predicted," Secretary of State Rubio criticized President Zelensky after tense talks at the White House.
However, Mr Zelensky said he would not apologise. He also said he would be ready to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump if the US leader invited him again "to solve real problems".
