Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister: Vietnam - Cambodia cooperation develops positively

On February 18, in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia Prak Sokhonn received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu for a courtesy visit.

According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu on his new position, and emphasized that Vietnam's early dispatch of an Ambassador to Cambodia demonstrates its respect for the bilateral relationship. He expressed his delight at the positive development of bilateral cooperation, especially through high-level visits and contacts.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his impression of Cambodia's comprehensive development achievements. He said that this was the result of the full implementation of the correct policies and guidelines of the Cambodian People's Party under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1 set forth by the Cambodian Government... He also highly appreciated the role of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in promoting relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu proposed many measures to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all fields, from politics, defense, security, to economy, trade, tourism and people-to-people exchange as well as coordination between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn agreed with the Ambassador's proposals, supported the enhancement of coordination and cooperation, and shared views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. He agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and organize consultations between relevant units of the two Foreign Ministries; agreed to strengthen cooperation within international frameworks, especially within ASEAN, ACMECS and Mekong sub-regional cooperation frameworks. He also expressed his pleasure at attending the ASEAN Future Forum in 2025, and highly appreciated Vietnam's bamboo diplomacy, considering it an important factor contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena.
