The story of Family Secrets begins when Yeon Jung returns to work after a long time of being content with being a housewife. Although surprised, her husband and daughter respect her choice. But at the same time, Yeon Jung shows strange signs that make her husband ask thousands of questions. Each family member hides secrets that are difficult to express, pulling them apart and becoming suspicious and blaming each other.
Taking on the central role of Yeon Jung, veteran star Kim Hye Eun portrays a dynamic, talented woman who appears tough and strong on the outside, but also hides many worries and anguish in her role as a wife and mother. Director Lee Sang Hoon said that when he was still an actor, he once co-starred with Kim Hye Eun in a project. He highly appreciated her ability to get into character on screen. Therefore, when making Family Secrets , he remembered her and invited her to take on the main role.
Kim Hye Eun was born in 1973, is a famous "plastic beauty" of Korean cinema. She is familiar to Vietnamese audiences through many hit movies: Itaewon Class, My Perfect Stranger, Mr. Sunshine, Encounter...

Director Lee Sang Hoon confirmed that his script was inspired by the Sewol ferry disaster that occurred in 2014. He opened up about the idea: "It happened a long time ago, but every year on April 19, the entire Korean nation commemorates the victims of that heartbreaking incident. That inspired me to make this film."
According to director Lee, Korean psychological films tend to have a sad tone. However, he does not want to follow this path. Instead, he sends a bright message in his work. The filmmaker is confident that the audience will guess the wrong ending of the story.
