Chairing the conference, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, emphasized that the highest goal of publishing is to serve the people, foster the qualities, intelligence and aspirations for development of the Vietnamese people. Not only carrying cultural values, published products must also be the center for providing scientific knowledge in many fields.
In the era of digital transformation, publishing needs to promote the development of e-books, digital libraries, and artificial intelligence applications; enhance connectivity and modernize publishing work; and create a national knowledge system on a digital platform.
Along with that, developing bookshelves and libraries at the grassroots level and forming cultural institutions close to the people is also a sustainable direction.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission affirmed that, no matter how difficult the circumstances, publishing activities must maintain their humanistic nature, political and ideological orientation, and at the same time constantly innovate and modernize to become a key cultural industry.

All levels and sectors need to fully absorb opinions at the conference to advise the Secretariat to issue new policies, bringing the country to a strong transformation in a new development stage.
"After 20 years of implementing Directive No. 42, Vietnamese publishing has proven its role as the "ideological and cultural pillar" of the Party, while facing the requirement of comprehensive innovation for deep integration. With high political determination, the leadership of the Party and the creative spirit of the publishing team, the industry will certainly continue to develop, contributing to building a national knowledge foundation and spreading Vietnamese values to the world ," emphasized Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia.
At the conference, delegates also proposed many solutions to improve the overall quality of publishing activities in the new era.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Publishing Association, the current legal system is still overlapping, some regulations are outdated, and have not kept up with digital transformation. The mechanism to support publications serving political tasks, especially theoretical and scientific books, is still limited.
In the context of the fourth industrial revolution, publishing must innovate comprehensively from content to operation methods. Digital publishing, audiobooks, and online platforms are developing strongly, requiring a new legal framework and modern management model.
Many solutions were also proposed by delegates such as building a development strategy for the Vietnamese publishing industry, removing bottlenecks in mechanisms and policies to create the most favorable conditions for publishing activities; strengthening control and strictly handling violations...
Concluding the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Phan Xuan Thuy believes that with its glorious tradition, solidarity and innovation, the Vietnamese publishing industry will continue to develop strongly, becoming a key cultural industry, making positive contributions to the cause of innovation, integration and national construction.
At the conference, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission awarded Certificates of Merit to 17 collectives with outstanding achievements in advising and organizing the implementation of Directive No. 42-CT/TW (2004 - 2024 period).
