Opening of the 2025 International Police Volleyball Tournament

On the evening of August 26, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security coordinated with relevant agencies to open the 2025 International Police Volleyball Tournament at the National Defense Sports and Gymnasium II, Military Region 7 (Ho Chi Minh City).

Attending the opening ceremony were: Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security ; Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Vu Hong Van; Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong; Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department….

On the international side, attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Bun Khunny, Consul General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Aulia Raihan, representative of the Indonesian Consulate; Mr. Phonesy Bunmixay, Consulate General of Laos; Colonel Khone Xi, Head of the Representative Office of the Lao Ministry of Public Security in Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, emphasized that the 2025 International Police Volleyball Tournament is one of the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Force's Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025); 20 years of the National Day for National Security Protection.

“With the sporting spirit of “Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility”, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam hopes that the tournament will connect the spirit of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and countries in the region and the world in general, between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the police forces of other countries in particular.

Through cultural and sports exchanges, we contribute to promoting cooperation and development between police forces of different countries in ensuring security and order, fighting and preventing crimes, especially transnational crimes, in the spirit of international friendship, responsibility for the community, for peace, security, safety, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.

The tournament is also an opportunity for athletes from domestic and international volleyball teams to improve their professional skills and competitive spirit, as a basis for participating in future tournaments.

“I believe that the 2025 International Police Volleyball Tournament will leave a strong impression in the eyes of international friends about the beautiful country and people of Vietnam, rich in cultural identity, friendly, hospitable and always loving peace,” said Deputy Minister of Public Security Pham The Tung.

The tournament has 6 participating teams, bringing together more than 150 athletes from 4 Southeast Asian countries (Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia and host Vietnam), competing in 11 matches over 5 consecutive days.

Six teams participated in the tournament: People's Public Security (the core is the Ho Chi Minh City Public Security volleyball team); Army (The Cong Tan Cang); Hanoi (Hanoi Club); Lao Ministry of Public Security team; Cambodian Ministry of Interior team (Visakha); Indonesian Police team (Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi Club).

Regarding the award structure, First prize: Cup, Gold medal and bonus of 10,000 USD; Second prize: Silver medal, bonus of 8,000 USD; Third prize: Bronze medal, bonus of 5,000 USD; Style prize: 3,000 USD and Outstanding Individual prize: 300 USD/person.

The closing match will be held at 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
