Speaking at the closing ceremony and award ceremony, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema, Director of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF), said that DANAFF III has fulfilled two important goals: honoring valuable cinematic heritage and developing, encouraging and supporting young talents. "DANAFF III was also honored to be attended by the Director General of UNESCO and recognized as "an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions". Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, assessed that this year's Film Festival not only honored outstanding works but also opened up in-depth dialogues about the future of the film industry through seminars, workshops, acting classes, etc. "It is the companionship and development of regional film industries that motivates us to continue to build an increasingly professional, creative and humane event in the following years," Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.
Also at the closing event of DANAFF III, the organizing committee presented awards in the categories of Vietnamese Film Competition, Asian Film Competition... The film Sister-in-law by director Khuong Ngoc won big at DANAFF III when it was honored with important awards such as Best Screenwriter, Best Actress (artist Viet Huong), Best Film and NETPAC Award (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema). Meanwhile, in the Asian Film Competition, the work Rain on the Butterfly Wings was honored with the Special Jury Prize.
Speaking at the event, director Khuong Ngoc shared that this is an honor, a great gift for his career journey. "From the beginning, I told my colleagues to try to make a film that is both artistic and entertaining. Now I have done it," he said.
