Building a new generation of filmmakers

The workshop is a valuable opportunity for domestic and international experts to share practical experiences.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Bich Ha, in recent years, the global film industry has undergone dramatic changes in technology, content and forms of film production and distribution. The problem of discovering and nurturing film talent has become one of the important strategies.

“International experience shows that in order to nurture talented young filmmakers, it is necessary to build a comprehensive support ecosystem, from training, consulting, financial support, to creating opportunities to screen works and opportunities for career development. With rich creative potential, Vietnam has the potential to form a new generation of filmmakers with rich identity, creativity, and integration, if there are synchronous policies and systematic investment in the coming time,” said Ms. Phan Thi Bich Ha.

At the workshop, Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh also shared about "Experience in building a filmmaking training program in a multidisciplinary university environment".

Director Trinh Dinh Le Minh believes that early practice helps students develop a professional working mindset and build a network of collaborators. In addition, strong connections with the domestic film industry and the international film festival system will help students develop a professional attitude and stay up to date with contemporary cinema trends.

Need to support the young generation of filmmakers

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that in the context of the global film industry changing strongly, discovering and nurturing young talents is not only an urgent task, but also a long-term strategy to build a sustainable, creative and integrated film industry.

International experience shows that investing in people - from directors, screenwriters, actors to technicians - is the foundation for creating works that have widespread influence.

According to Ms. Thi, currently, Da Nang City is gradually building a creative cultural ecosystem, promoting the development of cultural industries, including cinema.

“We are well aware that, in order to develop cinema, it is indispensable to have practical support policies for the young generation of filmmakers. From training, international connections to creating conditions for production and distribution. Da Nang City will continue to coordinate with film organizations, training schools and creative communities to build a favorable environment for talent to develop,” the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee emphasized.

Nurturing young talent is an urgent task, especially in the field of cinema.

Sharing international experiences plays an extremely important role in the development of the film industry, thereby helping generations of filmmakers access effective development models from other countries, expanding markets and cooperation opportunities. At the same time, it contributes to building policies to support the film industry, creating a suitable legal corridor to attract investment and sustainable development.
