The second half of 2025 is predicted to be the time when the wave of Chinese cars entering Vietnam explodes. From electric SUVs to small urban cars, Chinese car manufacturers do not hide their ambition to compete with low prices, high technology and eye-catching designs.

After the appearance of Omoda C5 and Jaecoo J7, the Omoda & Jaecoo joint venture continues to plan to launch a completely new C-class SUV model in Vietnam - Omoda C7. This is the next card in the strategy of attacking the popular SUV segment in Vietnam of this Chinese car brand.

The car will have two engine options including a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline version and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version using a 1.5L engine combined with an electric motor. The PHEV version is announced by the manufacturer to have a fuel consumption of only 5.9 liters/100 km and an operating range of up to 1,250 km after each full charge.

Although the selling price has not been announced, with the positioning strategy of "good price - high equipment", it is likely that Omoda C7 will have a more accessible price compared to a series of competitors such as Mazda CX-5 (749 - 979 million VND), Ford Territory (759 - 889 million VND) or Kia Sportage (819 - 999 million VND).

BYD is preparing to launch a new option for the Vietnamese market - a B-size electric SUV called Atto 2. Many dealers have started accepting deposits, while the launch date is expected in the third quarter of this year.
6.jpg
BYD Atto 2 is equipped with an electric motor with a capacity of 174 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The car uses a 45.12 kWh battery pack placed under the floor, providing a maximum travel distance of 380 km according to NEDC standards.

With an expected selling price of 669 million VND, Atto 2 will compete directly with existing B-size SUV models on the market such as Geely Coolray (538 - 628 million VND), Omoda C5 (539 - 669 million VND), Mitsubishi Xforce (599 - 705 million VND), Toyota Corolla Cross (820 - 913 million VND) or Kia Seltos (599 - 764 million VND).

Equally noteworthy is the launch of a series of small urban electric vehicles by TMT Motors. Among them, the Nano S05 EV - a 2-door mini car - is expected to stir up the low-cost car segment in the near future.
9.jpg
With dimensions of only 2,400 x 1,380 x 1,580 mm, the Nano S05 EV is extremely compact, targeting individual users, short trips in urban areas. The vehicle is equipped with a battery for a distance of 120-150 km/charge, supporting 2 charging standards at home and public stations according to CCS standards.
10.jpg
Although the official price has not been announced, TMT Motors confirmed that the price of Nano S05 EV will only be "slightly higher than high-end scooters", meaning it will likely fluctuate under 200 million VND. However, TMT Motors will have to face the problem that caused the Wuling MiniEV to fail, which is charging station infrastructure.

Geely is also not out of the race when preparing to launch the EX5 electric SUV in Vietnam. The model has appeared at a number of events in the first half of 2025 and is expected to be officially launched at the end of this year. EX5 is a C-class SUV with dimensions of length x width x height of 4,615 x 1,901 x 1,670 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
12.jpg
The car uses a 214 horsepower electric motor, 320 Nm torque, combined with a 60.22 kWh LFP battery pack, for a travel distance of 430 km per full charge. Currently, the selling price is still unknown, but according to many sources from the dealer, the EX5 will have a price equal to the BYD Atto 3 (766 - 886 million VND).
13.jpg
However, similar to other Chinese electric vehicles, the biggest weakness of the Geely EX5 is still the incomplete charging station ecosystem in Vietnam. Without a synchronous solution with infrastructure partners, the EX5 may have difficulty conquering Vietnamese consumers.
