The New York Times and Washington Post reported that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign team requested the use of military aircraft and vehicles for protection while he campaigned.
Previously, Mr. Trump shared on his social network Truth Social that there were “major threats” to his life.
Regarding the above request, US President Joe Biden announced that he had directed the administration to protect Mr. Trump as if he were a sitting president. According to President Biden, the US Secret Service should honor Mr. Trump's request for military protection during the final stages of the election campaign if this does not exceed the request for protection as a sitting president.
During his presidential campaign, Trump has had two assassination attempts. In mid-July, Trump was shot through the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Just two months later, while playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida, he was the target of another assassination attempt.
