Stabilize medical activities in communes and wards

The arrangement and merger of commune and ward level administrative units are requiring the reorganization of many aspects of work, including the health sector. In Thai Nguyen, although administrative boundaries have changed, the operations of commune and ward level health stations have remained stable, ensuring good service to the people's primary health care needs.

In the mountainous commune of Cam Giang, an administrative unit established from the merger of four communes: Nguyen Phuc, Cam Giang, My Thanh and Quan Ha, grassroots medical activities are being maintained flexibly, in accordance with the actual situation.

All four old health stations continue to operate in their previous locations, helping people conveniently access basic health services without having to travel far, especially the elderly or patients with chronic diseases.

For nearly two weeks, people have maintained the habit of going to the medical station near their home to have their health checked, have their blood pressure measured, and receive regular medication.

The merger of administrative boundaries does not affect access to health services, thanks to the proactive coordination between the health sector and local authorities in reviewing human resources, management areas, and coordinating facilities.

Essential services such as vaccination, non-communicable disease management, maternal and child health care, etc. are still maintained.

Doctor Ly Thi Vang, Deputy Head of Cam Giang Commune Health Station, said: People can rest assured because the station is still nearby, the medical staff is familiar, and the medical examination and treatment work is still well maintained. The health insurance drugs provided by the Health Center are also basically enough to treat common diseases.

Not only in the highlands, the reorganization of the health system in densely populated wards in the central urban areas of the province also poses many new requirements.

With advantages in human resources, infrastructure and experience in technology implementation, Quyet Thang Ward Health Station has proactively taken advantage of existing facilities, while promoting the application of digital technology in medical examination and treatment management. Doctor Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Quyet Thang Ward Health Station, said: We have prepared in advance, especially in implementing digital transformation in the medical field. After the merger, medical examination and treatment at the grassroots level has been better implemented thanks to the electronic medical record management system, synchronized data on outpatient treatment and medication dispensing.

In fact, from the highlands to the central urban areas of the province, people have convenient access to medical services, without any interruption or disruption after the merger.

According to the guidance of the Ministry of Health, the principle of "maintaining the facility and stabilizing operations" is thoroughly understood and seriously implemented by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Health Department.

Currently, the province maintains 280 commune and ward health stations. These units are operated and professionally supported by 17 regional health centers, which are public service units under the Department of Health, taking on the role of coordinating and professionally managing according to the area.

Mr. Tac Van Nam, Deputy Director of Thai Nguyen Department of Health, affirmed: The industry's viewpoint is not to allow any interruption in people's health care activities. From vaccination, population propaganda to medical examination, treatment and provision of health insurance drugs for chronic patients, all must be carried out smoothly and effectively.
Arranging the grassroots health network in accordance with local conditions, effectively utilizing existing facilities, and promoting the application of technology and digital transformation... not only helps people maintain their rights to medical examination and treatment, but is also an important step in the roadmap to building a modern, synchronous and interconnected grassroots health system for community health.
