After about a month, the snakehead fish grew bigger, so he removed the fishing net and let the fish go to the lotus field. At this time, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo did not feed the snakehead fish bait but let them find their own natural food in the lotus field.
After 11 months of care, Mr. Ngo, a farmer in Phu Thanh B commune, Hong Ngu district ( Dong Thap province) harvested 3,189 kg of lotus buds and sold them for 17,000 VND/kg.
Mr. Ngo also caught 2,800 kg of commercial snakehead fish, selling at a price of 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg. Thus, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo's total income from lotus and snakehead fish was over 292 million VND.
After deducting all investment costs for buying snakehead fish, Taiwanese lotus seeds and care, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo earned a profit of over 175 million VND.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo, this model of raising snakehead fish combined with growing lotus helps limit diseases, reduce investment costs for fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary drugs for aquatic products, reduce environmental pollution and adapt to climate change.
