AS said the Antony deal will be accelerated this week, as MU prepares to have its first friendly match in the pre-season on July 19. Previously, the Brazilian star was given the green light by coach Ruben Amorim to leave the team this summer.

Currently, Antony still maintains his stance of wanting to return to Betis, where he had happy days in the second half of the 2024/25 season. At this point, the former Ajax star's role at the negotiating table is considered very important.

Betis have made offers to MU in the past few days, with the intention of asking for Antony on loan with the obligation to buy him at the end of next season. The La Liga club is willing to pay for 50% ownership of Antony.

"We all have to realise that this is a very complicated deal. Given what Antony has shown at Real Betis, it is not easy to complete this negotiation," Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo admitted last week.

The Andalusian side are facing a series of financial difficulties, with the amount of money needed to bring the Brazilian player away from Old Trafford expected to be a new record for the club.
