Ho Chi Minh City discusses solutions for healthcare development in Con Dao special zone

On the afternoon of July 16, the working delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee led by Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Nguyen Phuoc Loc had a working session with Con Dao special zone to find solutions to develop the healthcare system in a specialized, synchronous and sustainable direction.

At the meeting, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized: The development of healthcare for Con Dao special zone must be closely linked to the overall development strategy of the special zone in the future.

Accordingly, the Department of Health is assigned the task of urgently advising on specific goals, roadmaps and solutions to meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment for officers, soldiers, residents and tourists in Con Dao.

At the meeting, medical experts discussed and proposed many practical orientations to improve the quality of healthcare in Con Dao such as: Organizing on-site and online training and professional training for medical staff; implementing the family doctor model;

It is necessary to rotate highly skilled and specialized doctors to work in Con Dao and at the same time develop a policy to attract long-term medical human resources.

Currently, Con Dao special zone has a combined military-civilian medical center with 60 beds and modern equipment, performing both preventive medicine and medical examination and treatment functions.

However, the health sector here still faces many difficulties such as: Lack of high-quality human resources; problems in bidding for the purchase of drugs and medical supplies and inadequacies in transporting emergency patients to the mainland.
