Prime Minister strengthens State Steering Committee on Tourism

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just issued Decision No. 1532/QD-TTg dated July 15, 2025 on the consolidation of the State Steering Committee on Tourism.

According to the Decision, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh is the Head of the Steering Committee. The Deputy Head of the Committee is Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.

The members of the Steering Committee include: Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Standing Member); Mr. Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Do Ngoc Huynh, Deputy Head of the Government Office ; Mr. Bui Van Khang, Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; Mr. Vo Van Hung, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment; Mr. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang, Deputy Minister of Construction; Mr. Pham Duc Long, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, member, Chief of the Steering Committee Office.

The Steering Committee is an inter-sectoral coordination organization whose function is to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the resolution of important, inter-sectoral issues in tourism activities nationwide; researching and proposing to the Prime Minister directions, tasks, and solutions to develop tourism.

The Steering Committee is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in directing the coordination of activities of relevant ministries, branches and localities in developing and implementing tasks under national and key programs on tourism development in accordance with resolutions of the Politburo, the National Assembly, the Government and decisions and directives of the Prime Minister; directing, inspecting and urging ministries, branches and localities in developing and implementing specific plans and programs on tourism development according to assigned functions and tasks.

In addition, the Steering Committee is also responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in reporting to the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee on issues related to State policies and laws on tourism development that are beyond the authority of the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches and localities.

At the same time, assist the Prime Minister in directing ministries, branches, localities and mass media agencies to carry out propaganda and dissemination of the State's guidelines, policies and laws on tourism development.

The Steering Committee has the right to request ministries, branches, local authorities and state agencies, organizations and individuals to provide information and documents serving the implementation of the Steering Committee's tasks.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the standing agency of the Steering Committee, responsible for ensuring the operating conditions of the Steering Committee, and using the Ministry's functional agencies and units to organize the implementation of the Steering Committee's tasks.

This Decision takes effect from the date of signing; replaces Decision No. 335/QD-TTg dated April 24, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the consolidation of the State Steering Committee on Tourism and Decision No. 1145/QD-TTg dated October 9, 2024 of the Prime Minister on changing members participating in the State Steering Committee on Tourism.
