Houses of love between the Army and the People

Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a major policy of the Party and State with profound humanitarian significance. With the spirit of “Serving the People”, officers and soldiers of the armed forces of Tuyen Quang province have joined hands to build solid houses for hundreds of poor households.

In the heroic atmosphere of the historic August days, the Provincial Military Command, the Army Youth Union and the General Department of Politics presented 80 million VND in support of the construction of the "100 VND House" for the family of Veteran Nguyen Van Phuong, An Tuong Ward.

Officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command participated in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Hung Loi commune.

According to Major Trieu Van Ninh, Assistant to the Mass Mobilization Department of the Provincial Military Command, the “100 Dong House” model is a meaningful movement of the Army youth to help families with housing difficulties by deducting a small amount of money from the savings activities of young officers and soldiers. 100 Dong per day, 3,000 Dong per month, the movement has promoted the spirit of mutual love and affection, enhancing social responsibility for union members and youth of the Provincial Military Command. At the same time, the activity contributes to sharing difficulties with officers and soldiers of the unit as well as families with housing difficulties in the area.

Along with the support for the construction of the "100 Dong House", since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Military Command has built 3 "Houses of Gratitude", each house supported with a cost of 80 million VND; 3 "Great Solidarity" houses, each house supported with 60 million VND from contributions from officers and soldiers. As of August 25, the provincial armed forces have supported 65,908 working days to dismantle old houses, dig foundations, and transport construction materials. Of which, the regular force supported 2,926 working days; the Militia and Self-Defense Force, and the reserve mobilization force supported 62,982 working days to participate in demolishing temporary and dilapidated houses. From central communes and wards to highland border communes, the image of officers and soldiers in sweaty shirts, regardless of the sun or rain to build warm homes has become a symbol of compassion and the spirit of sharing, recognized by local Party committees, authorities and people.

This year, the family of Giang Mi Po, Mao So Tung village, Dong Van border commune, has been living in a new, spacious house. This is one of eight new houses handed over by the Border Guard Command on the occasion of the Border Guard's traditional day, March 3. Each brick built and each tile roofed represents the deep military-civilian affection that each officer and soldier of the province's armed forces maintains.
“My family is very happy because we have a new, clean house. Before, whenever it rained heavily, the old house would collapse and the family would have to take shelter. Now that we have a new house, my wife and I can work and earn money with peace of mind. With money, we will buy new furniture for the family, pour a road leading to the house, and make a clean concrete yard,” Mr. Po shared.

Just like Giang Mi Po's family, this year, Vi Van Kien, 70 years old, a particularly poor household in Thang Binh village, Hung Duc commune, received financial support and labor to build a new house. Mr. Kien said, "I am old and lonely, so I cannot build a decent house. When it rains heavily, my old house leaks everywhere. Recently, with the help of soldiers, union members, and young people in the area, some cleared the ground, some carried materials, some dug the foundation, the house was quickly built. Thank you to the local government, the Party, the Government , and Uncle Ho's soldiers."

The movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the armed forces is not only a material support for families in difficult circumstances but also a vivid manifestation of the solidarity between the army and the people. From the houses of affection, the people's trust in the Party, the State and the Army is strengthened, creating a solid foundation for building the great national unity bloc. Each newly built house is not only a warm home for a family but also a clear demonstration of the spirit of humanity, solidarity and responsibility of the provincial armed forces in building and defending the Fatherland.
