Guardia Civil said the Lamborghini driven by Jota had a tire blowout while overtaking another vehicle on a road through Cernadilla, Zamora province (Spain). The accident happened at around 00:30, Portugal time. The car lost control, went off the road and burst into flames, leaving neither Jota nor his brother in time to escape.

When asked about the victims' identities, a Guardia Civil representative said: "The people in the car were Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva." Spanish media revealed that the car was completely burned and the identities of the two were only confirmed through the license plate.

The heartbreaking news shocked the sports world. Clubs, players and fans around the world expressed their condolences to Jota, a player known for his energetic and dedicated playing style. Liverpool also released a statement expressing their condolences for the great loss, affirming that they will always stand by and support Jota's family during this most difficult time.

The tragedy made many people choke up even more when Jota had just married Rute Cardoso on June 22. The two had 3 children together and were considered a model happy family. Now, the bad news came suddenly, ending the journey of a 28-year-old football star, leaving an unfillable void for his family, fans and the entire Liverpool team.
