On July 3, Zalopay signed a cooperation agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to create conditions for Vietnamese users to easily pay when traveling in the island nation without having to convert foreign currency.
The agreement allows users to pay directly in Singapore through the Singapore Tourism Board's network of partners. Users do not need to convert foreign currency or open an international card. Exchange rates and transaction fees are displayed transparently on the application, helping to effectively control spending throughout the journey.
The event marks the first time the Singapore Tourism Board has partnered with a payment application in Vietnam. Singapore is also the first country that Zalopay has chosen to deploy the “international QR scanning” feature.
Zalopay representative said that it has fully integrated utilities to serve travel needs such as booking air tickets, booking rooms, paying at dining and entertainment venues and promotions at destinations.
The payment interface is designed to be intuitive and transparent: users just need to select the Singapore region in the “Scan QR” section, the system will automatically display the converted amount and transaction fee.
In addition to payment capabilities, Zalopay also partners with Singapore partners to bring many local incentives and exclusive benefits exclusively for Vietnamese users.
Ms. Serene Ng, Chief Representative of the Singapore Tourism Board, commented that the combination of Zalopay's digital payment capabilities, a large number of users in Vietnam, and Singapore's diverse tourism products will bring a more seamless and connected experience to Vietnamese tourists.
Seamless international travel experience
According to statistics, in 2024, Singapore welcomed more than 393,000 Vietnamese tourists, making Vietnam one of the 15 largest tourist source markets. This is a sign of the development potential of Vietnamese tourists, especially young urbanites, who tend to travel for experiences, prioritize convenience and digital connectivity.
Ms. Le Lan Chi, General Director of Zalopay, said that although operating in two different fields, Zalopay and the Singapore Tourism Board share a spirit of innovation and a commitment to improving user experience.
