International Customs Day 2025 is associated with many goals

The theme for 2025 chosen by the World Customs Organization is "Customs committed to their mission: Efficiency, security and prosperity"

On January 24, the General Department of Customs informed that the World Customs Organization issued a notice on International Customs Day January 26, 2025 with the theme: "Customs commit to performing their duties for the goal of Efficiency, security and prosperity" with the purpose of calling on member customs agencies to demonstrate their commitment to actively implementing WCO tools and transforming them into specific activities with the goal of facilitating trade, ensuring supply chain security and promoting sustainable economic development.

Through this theme, WCO calls on members to promote the implementation of specific activities for each objective such as the efficiency target associated with the modernization of customs procedures, applying digital transformation, developing automatic data exchange mechanisms and strengthening the gate system to facilitate and reduce customs clearance time. Promote data-based procedures and use modern technologies such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data to support decision-making, risk management, etc.

Objectives: Ensure security and enhance supply chain security through the implementation of the Framework for Trade Security and Facilitation. Prevent illicit trafficking of prohibited goods such as small arms, light weapons, precursors, explosives, nuclear materials and strategic goods. Prevent and combat money laundering and prepare for emergency situations.

Prosperity goals, promote reform and support business operations, especially start-ups and new businesses through providing full information and supporting the market entry process. Ensure tax management and collection, strengthen the integrated revenue management system, strengthen the review, assessment, update knowledge on trade trends for customs officials, provide full information to facilitate businesses in the process of complying with tax regulations. Promote sustainable economic development contributing to the development of a green economy, environmentally friendly products, minimizing environmental impacts in line with the government's goals of sustainable development. Develop comprehensive policies and tools to address the challenges of many target groups, ensuring comprehensiveness and fairness, taking into account the practical operations of small and medium enterprises, paying attention to the issue of diversity and gender equality.
