Many industries reduced floor up to 4 points
At the University of Finance and Marketing, the school set the admission threshold based on high school graduation exam scores for all majors at 15 points, a decrease of 1-4 points compared to last year.
This is the total score of 3 subjects in the admission combination from the 2025 high school exam with the condition that no subject is below 1 point. For the Economic Law major, candidates need to achieve 6 points in Math or Literature.
This is the lowest floor score in the past 3 years at the University of Finance and Marketing, as in previous years, the school always required candidates to achieve 16-19 points to be able to apply to the school.
This year, the school will enroll students according to 6 methods: Direct admission, priority admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; considering students with good academic results; considering transcripts; considering V-SAT exam scores; considering the results of the Competency Assessment (ĐGNL) exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University; considering the 2025 high school graduation exam scores.

Similarly, the highest decrease of up to 4 points was recorded in the admission threshold of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
Specifically, compared to 2024, the floor score for some majors in the fields of economics, law, information technology, services, management, and languages at this school decreased by 1-4 points. The remaining majors in the fields of technology and engineering remain at 16 points.
If applying for admission based on academic transcript scores, candidates need to achieve 20 points or more.
The minimum score for the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test is 600/1,200, and for Law it is 720. For the specialized competency assessment test of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the school takes a threshold of 5/10 points.
With the admission method using the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's High School Graduation Exam, the school accepts applications with scores from 600/1,200, with the Law major receiving 720.
With the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the school takes the threshold of 5/10 points.
A notable new point is that this year the school has expanded the admission combination for block C (C00, C01, C02, C03, C14) for 27/37 majors, creating more favorable conditions for candidates to study social subjects.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also plans to set the minimum score for admission methods at 18-20.
This floor score applies to the following methods: Admission based on the results of the 2025 high school exam; Priority for admission of students from 149 high schools according to the list of regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Priority for direct admission of the best candidates of high schools in 2025; Priority for admission of students who are members of provincial and municipal teams participating in the national excellent student exam or winning first, second, third, or consolation prizes in provincial and municipal excellent student exams; candidates with achievements in social, artistic, and sports activities.
For the admission method based on the results of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's National High School Exam, the minimum score is 620 or higher.
Benchmark score likely to drop by 1 to 2 points
MSc. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung - Deputy Head of Admissions and Corporate Relations Department, University of Finance - Marketing, said that based on the score distribution of the 2025 high school exam, it can be seen that this year's score level tends to have a clear differentiation between admission groups.
Traditional combinations such as A00 (Math – Physics – Chemistry), A01 (Math – Physics – English), D01 (Math – Literature – English) and B00 (Math – Chemistry – Biology) all recorded a significant decrease in average scores compared to the previous year, mainly due to lower scores in Math and English.
This will cause the benchmark scores of many majors, especially those in the Economics - Administration - Engineering sectors, to potentially decrease by 1 to 2 points.
Meanwhile, the groups C00 (Literature - History - Geography), C19 (Literature - History - Economic and Legal Education), D14 (Literature - History - English) remain stable, even with the potential to increase slightly thanks to the even and higher-than-average score distribution in social subjects.
Consider your wishes carefully.
According to Ms. Phung, in this situation, candidates should not be too worried if their test scores are not as high as expected. The corresponding decrease in the admission scores of many majors and universities will open up more opportunities for admission.
Candidates should carefully consider their wishes, choose a combination with a higher score advantage and prioritize admission to majors that match their abilities and interests.
"Universities, including the University of Finance and Marketing (UFM), always have many flexible admission methods and programs to ensure maximum benefits for candidates in this year's admissions," Ms. Phung shared.

According to this expert, after knowing the exam scores, candidates need to proactively research the admission information of universities such as previous years' admission scores, this year's quota, admission methods, subject combinations, major codes and related additional conditions announced by each school.
"It is very important to analyze your high school graduation exam scores, V-SAT, aptitude test, academic records... to choose the right choice. Candidates should prioritize majors and schools that match their abilities and interests, and arrange their preferences in order of actual desire, in which the first choice is the major or school that the candidate loves the most," said Ms. Phung.
According to this expert, the admission system only considers from the first choice until the candidate is admitted, so strategic arrangement is very necessary. Candidates are not limited in the number of choices, but it should be noted that each major at each school can only be registered once.
Registration and adjustment of wishes are carried out within the time prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training from July 16 to 5:00 p.m. on July 28, so candidates must carefully check the information before registering and confirming the information.
When registering, make sure the industry code and school code are correct and keep and note the confirmation information for comparison when necessary.
In addition, candidates must complete the obligation to pay the admission fee according to the number of wishes registered online on time.

In addition, to increase the chance of admission, candidates should register for a few more "safe" wishes with lower benchmark scores and can consider combining other admission methods to avoid only registering for 1 major at 1 school.
Careful preparation and smart choices will help candidates be more confident and proactive in the university admission process.
"Regardless of the method of admission, candidates will still study the same program of that major, still study with the same lecturers, and the tuition fee is the same. Therefore, the most important thing is that candidates register for the major that they feel is most suitable and passionate about," said Ms. Phung.
