On the evening of July 17, the Vietnam U23 team returned to the training ground in Indonesia to urgently complete the final preparations for the opening match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
This training session is very important for the whole team, it is an opportunity for coach Kim Sang Sik to review and evaluate the overall personnel as well as the tactics that will be applied for the match with U23 Laos on July 19.
Coach Kim Sang Sik directly managed the entire training session. The Korean coach constantly urged his players, ready to stop the training session to promptly correct technical details.
He also tested several alternatives for striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan, who unfortunately suffered an injury and had to leave the tournament today, July 17.
In an interview with the media before the training session, midfielder Nguyen Phi Hoang - one of the players who participated in the Vietnam U23 team that won the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship - said: "Every time I train, I set a goal to win the championship. I always aim for the best results, determined to bring the championship trophy home to the fans."

Sharing his experience participating in the tournament, Phi Hoang emphasized: "Every year the tournament is different, and the opponents also improve. The whole team must concentrate and fight with the highest spirit."
Talking about the competition for positions, this midfielder said: "Opportunities are shared among all players. Whoever performs well in training and is trusted by the coaching staff will have the opportunity to play."
Evaluating the Vietnamese-Russian player Viktor Le, Phi Hoang said: "Viktor Le has trained with the team three times, is very familiar with the environment here and is an important factor in the team. Everyone is integrating well, the whole team will support each other to fight for the common goal."
Referring to Thanh Nhan's absence due to injury, Phi Hoang shared: "Everyone on the team is important, Thanh Nhan's injury is a pity. I hope Nhan will return soon, because there are still many important tournaments ahead. I wish Nhan a quick recovery."
Regarding the competition with Le Van Thuan - the midfielder who was called up to replace Thanh Nhan after being eliminated earlier, Phi Hoang affirmed: "Thuan is a potential player and will have a chance if he integrates well with the team."
U23 Vietnam did not have a practice session to familiarize themselves with the field while opponents U23 Laos and Cambodia had played before. However, Phi Hoang is still confident: "I think the most important thing is the team's preparation. If the team members are united and highly focused, they will not face any significant disadvantages."
According to the plan, tomorrow, July 18, U23 Vietnam will have the last training session before entering the opening match in Group B against U23 Laos. Midfielder Le Van Thuan will also be present in this training session, contributing to increasing the competitiveness and ensuring the depth of the U23 Vietnam team.
