Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank continues to support Vietnam with resources for infrastructure

(Chinhphu.vn) - On July 6, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to meet Mr. Kim Lap Quan again, highly appreciated the contributions of AIIB and Mr. Kim Lap Quan personally over the past 10 years to Vietnam's development; affirmed that Vietnam will continue to attach importance to and actively participate in appropriate cooperation initiatives of AIIB.

Sharing about the situation and development policies of Vietnam, the Prime Minister emphasized Vietnam's high priority in promoting the economic growth target of 8% in 2025 and double digits in the following years.

Regarding the development of strategic road and railway infrastructure, the Prime Minister proposed that AIIB continue to support Vietnam in mobilizing resources to implement major projects such as the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong standard gauge railway, while providing preferential loans focusing on major projects that have the meaning of "turning the situation around", transferring technology and training human resources.

AIIB President Jin Liqun highly appreciated Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic achievements in recent times and agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals, emphasizing the importance and spillover effects of large-scale infrastructure projects on connectivity, improving logistics capacity and socio-economic development in localities, thereby attracting more high-quality investment capital into Vietnam.

Mr. Kim Lap Quan affirmed that AIIB will continue to accompany and support Vietnam in mobilizing resources to develop key infrastructure, ensuring energy for the operation of high-speed railway lines; participating in transport infrastructure projects, healthcare, climate change adaptation, power transmission and energy conversion in Vietnam and the region./.
