The beauty of everyday life: Warming hearts with free meals

Over the past years, thousands of patients and their relatives in difficult circumstances who came to Bu Dang Regional Medical Center (Dong Nai Province) for treatment have been supported by free meals. The free, warm and meaningful meals given have partly helped people ease the burden in their days of fighting illness.

Every Tuesday morning, members of the Nursery Volunteer Group arrange their work, go into the kitchen, and cook free meals together to give to patients and their relatives being treated at Bu Dang Regional Medical Center.

Cooking and giving free vegetarian meals to patients and their relatives is a meaningful activity that the group has maintained since 2023. Each time, the group cooks about 200 free vegetarian meals and gives them to patients at Bu Dang Regional Medical Center.

Head of the Ho Thi Bich Hong Nursery Volunteer Group said: “The idea of cooking free meals to give to patients was sparked when I received free meals while being treated at Cho Ray Hospital ( Ho Chi Minh City) in 2022. After being discharged from the hospital, I called on my friends to turn the idea into action and the group's charity kitchen was born, operating until now.”

The budget to maintain the group's kitchen is mainly contributed by the group members. Later, more benefactors learned about the significance of the kitchen and contributed funds to help the kitchen maintain more regularly and adequately.
