Born in 1989, but Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung has been the head of La Cho village for 8 years. Mr. Hung said: "When I received the additional task of village head, I was both happy and worried because I was afraid that I would not do well and let down the villagers. However, with the encouragement of the local government "however difficult it is, I will overcome it", I was determined, seeing it as an opportunity for me to contribute my youth to the cause of building my hometown". The time when Deputy Secretary of La Cho village Youth Union Tran Ngoc Hung received the task of village head was also when La Cho village was in the peak period of building a new countryside with many difficulties. Mr. Hung said that because he was young and had little experience, every time he carried out the village's work, it took a lot of time to prepare. Therefore, he always tried to learn from the experiences of his predecessors; planned and assigned specific tasks to each village organization in propagating and mobilizing people to develop the economy and build a new countryside. Besides, he himself must always be exemplary, must always be close to the people, do propaganda and mobilization work not only in meetings but must skillfully integrate propaganda and mobilization in daily life.
With the belief that "whatever is beneficial to the people, we will do", Mr. Hung and the team of village officials took the time to visit each house to understand their thoughts and aspirations, mobilize people to renovate their gardens to grow high-quality fruit trees with high productivity, bring high economic efficiency, build livestock barns, call on union members to join hands to build electric lines to light up the countryside... The village organized a campaign to call for socialization to deploy the installation of electric lighting lines over 1km long, costing nearly 30 million VND; mobilized people to voluntarily donate land to widen the road, build pond embankments, install drainage ditches, and concretize the hamlet axis, worth nearly 500 million VND. Con Cao hamlet upgraded and widened the road, installed traffic safety mirrors on dangerous sections of the road, and corners with limited visibility so that people could easily observe and travel safely. From 2020 to now, more than 10 households in the village have donated hundreds of square meters of land, demolished pillars, solid gates, concrete fences, contributed tens of thousands of working days and tens of billions of VND to renovate residential areas. Up to now, 100% of the roads and alleys in the village have been concreted, 3-3.5m wide; the lighting system has been invested synchronously. In addition to donating land, contributing money and working days to build roads, people in the commune also actively participate in doing a good job of environmental sanitation. Instead of leaving household waste indiscriminately, not in the right place, causing environmental pollution, 100% of households have sorted their waste at home and put it in the right place; livestock households have also invested in building biogas tanks and wastewater drainage ditches.
Mr. Tran Van Ngo, a resident of La Cho village, said: “Although he is very young, village chief Tran Ngoc Hung is always enthusiastic about all the work and movements of the village. He knows every family and every situation, and we are very grateful. Thanks to the active mobilization of the village chief and the village cadres, my family voluntarily demolished the surrounding wall to widen the village road. We are very happy to have a clean and spacious road. Not only that, the village chief also accompanied us and shared experiences to build the economy and develop the village together.” Thanks to the enthusiasm and responsibility for the community of Mr. Hung and the village cadres, La Cho village has now "changed its skin". People are actively innovating production models, building model gardens, developing livestock and crops. Currently, the average income per capita in the village reaches 80-90 million VND/year, the whole village has 13 economic models with incomes of 100 million VND or more.
In addition to his duties as village chief, Mr. Hung also participates in the Provincial Red Cross Volunteer Team, is the Chairman of the Nam Dinh City Volunteer Club, and actively promotes and mobilizes friends, colleagues and relatives to participate in blood donation activities. To date, Mr. Tran Ngoc Hung has donated blood 47 times. In 2020, he was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Health at the program honoring 100 outstanding voluntary blood donors nationwide.
With the spirit of young, dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible, and dedicated people, village chief Tran Ngoc Hung has built trust and a solid position in the hearts of La Cho villagers, truly being the ones who "light the fire" for the young people in the village to follow.
