Attending the event were Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee; leaders of city departments and branches... On the side of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, there was Mr. Sandeep Arya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Vietnam and his wife.
The Organizing Committee inaugurated two traffic bridges, including Ngon Thai Binh Bridge (Trung Nhut Ward, Thot Not District) and Vanh Dai Lam Truong Bridge (Truong Xuan A Commune, Thoi Lai District). Specifically: Ngon Thai Binh Bridge is designed with permanent reinforced concrete, 4.5m wide, 29.5m long, 5-ton load capacity, construction cost of nearly 630 million VND; Vanh Dai Lam Truong Bridge has a total bridge length of 18m, width of 4m, total construction cost of over 780 million VND. After 3 months of construction, up to now, the two projects have been completed and put into use.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep emphasized: India is a comprehensive strategic partner of Vietnam. In recent times, Can Tho City and Indian partners have continuously expanded their cooperative relationship in many fields; especially economics , education, culture and people-to-people exchange. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep hopes that the Ambassador will be a bridge to promote cooperation between India and Can Tho City in areas where both sides have strengths, such as education and training, scientific research, information technology, agriculture and technology transfer; at the same time, support more social security programs and projects to help people in difficult circumstances in the city. With the established foundations, Can Tho City leaders believe that the cooperative relationship between Can Tho City and India will become increasingly sustainable, profound, substantive and effective, contributing to bringing the Vietnam - India comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.
Mr. Sandeep Arya thanked the people of Can Tho for their hospitality; expressed his joy at the completion of the bridge construction project, bringing benefits to the people. Mr. Sandeep Arya said that every year, India funds about 10 similar projects within the framework of Mekong - Ganga cooperation, aiming to bring mutual benefits to both India and the Mekong sub-region countries. With many cooperation activities between India and Can Tho City to be implemented in the coming time, the Ambassador hopes that Can Tho City will become an important partner in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam.
