Expanding sales channels
Opened in April 2023, the Vietnamese and OCOP product introduction and sales point at Han Market is located in the Bach Dang gate food court, with an area of over 14 square meters. This location sells more than 100 items including OCOP products, typical products, souvenirs, typical industry, agriculture , traditional craft villages of Da Nang and some provinces and cities across the country.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (from Ho Chi Minh City) shared: “I have visited Da Nang many times and this time I was able to easily choose to buy OCOP products to bring back as gifts for family and friends. The stall has a variety of products, designs, and beautiful packaging. I feel secure when choosing to buy products here because they have clear origin, quality, and listed prices.”
Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of Han Market Management Board, said that during the peak tourist season, the market welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors and shoppers. The booth helped promote the OCOP image of Da Nang, building a brand for foreign tourists. On the other hand, the booth also created conditions for businesses in the market to cooperate with OCOP enterprises to consume products more strongly.
Recently, Vinseed Biotechnology Company Limited opened the Hoa Xuan OCOP Center on Le Quang Chi Street, Hoa Xuan Ward. The center is built on an area of over 100m2, with a scientifically and modernly arranged space, with areas for displaying OCOP products, local specialties, product trial experience areas and a digital technology-integrated sales management system. This place is displaying and introducing products of 20 brands with 50 product codes.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Khiem, co-founder and Deputy Director of Vinseed Biotechnology Company Limited said: “We aim to become a stopover on domestic and international tours, and are expected to welcome the first groups of visitors in August. At the same time, we will organize trade connection activities, seminars, product introductions and share experiences in production and consumption of OCOP products.”
Operating for more than 2 years now, the display and introduction point of OCOP products and typical rural industries at the Agricultural Production Service Cooperative 1 Hoa Quy (Ngu Hanh Son Ward) has become a place to serve the shopping needs of the people. This location sells a variety of OCOP products, especially many local agricultural products such as: Hoa Tien organic rice, lingzhi mushrooms, Nam O fish sauce...
Mr. Mai Sieng, Director of Hoa Quy Agricultural Production Service Cooperative 1, said that the OCOP product display and promotion point not only contributes to widely introducing clean, quality, and safe products to the people but also improves the cooperative's operational efficiency. Currently, products at the display point are being promoted for online sale via e-commerce platforms.
Maximize your potential
After the merger, Da Nang city now has more than 450 OCOP products, many of which are of high quality, with unique cultural, culinary and craft values. This is an important resource that needs to be effectively exploited to serve tourism development, domestic consumption and promote local image.
However, to operate and promote the advantages of OCOP product display and sales points, shop owners and units must be proactive and flexible in applying digital technology in promoting, marketing and boosting product consumption. At the same time, closely link with production entities according to value chains to reduce distribution costs and increase profits in business operations.
Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the city has 26 OCOP sales points, distributed in many central areas, traditional craft villages, tourist destinations and residential areas. These sales points have initially played an effective role as a connecting channel between producers and consumers, contributing to promoting and consuming local specialties and building trust in Vietnamese goods.
However, the OCOP point of sale system still has some limitations such as uneven distribution among regions, inconsistent design and identity; trade promotion and value chain connection at points of sale have not met practical requirements.
To improve the effectiveness of the program, the city's agriculture and environment sector is reviewing and developing an OCOP project for the 2026-2030 period. The focus is on supporting trade promotion and product consumption. The city focuses on designing and standardizing a common identity for OCOP points of sale, implementing it synchronously at existing points and expanding it to potential locations with a large number of customers.
"The development of points of sale associated with community cultural and tourism spaces will be prioritized, such as Hoi An walking street, Han River bank, night markets, key tourist centers and major festivals. The city will promote the application of digital technology in management, connection and product promotion, aiming to build a modern, professional and effective OCOP point of sale system," Ms. Vu Thi Bich Hau informed.
